Posted July 23, 200618 yr comment_175675 Has any on ever heard of using a chevy thermostat cover on the Z thermostat housing. I know I have heard somewhere that it can be done. I just don't know if you use the 70's style or the later style. I ask because I am doing a JTR radiator change on my Z in the next two weeks or so, and instead of using a hose splicer or the JTR kit I would like run a longer hose to a swivel thermostat housing. July 24, 200618 yr comment_175747 I have never tried using a SBC thermostat cover on a Z car...Just from memory the basic shape and size are similar, except that the cover on a Z is aluminum while the standard cover for a Chevy is steel. Also typically it seems like the Chevy covers have an outlet pipe that is pointed upward while the Datsun cover is more or less horizontal. If I recall correctly the chamber size on the Chevy cover, that is the hemispherical dome, is smaller than the one on the Z car.It might fit, if you have one try it I guess... but generally you will not get much support around this site asking about non-Nissan parts. Folks around here really aren't into that sort of thing. Heck, I was snubbed once for asking about using a whip style antenna instead of a "correct" motorized retractable one... Don't take it personally, it happens. July 24, 200618 yr Author comment_175761 I am not going to take it personal at all. I know people like to stay some what original. I just thought I might ask this question. I know the chevy should fit I have heard about it years ago plus the thermostat is the exact same part as the 350,305 and ect. Plus the one I'm looking at is not angled. I guess I may run over to the JY for a couple of test pieces after work. I just thougth having an alluminum 360 swivel would look cool on my engine. I do have some polished pieces along with some custom machined pieces to make it look sharp. The steel braided lines are great to. I just put them on my AC system a couple of weeks ago. July 24, 200618 yr comment_175776 Apparently, no one has heard of this or thought about it. Trial and error are going to be your teachers here. Who would have thought that a Chevy 250 6-cyl 2bbl to 4bbl adaptor with 3-4 spacers would work on a Toyota? I've seen it and it works very well. Some really imaginative guys out there. Good luck!
