Some people on this site are teachers. The type of person that enjoys sharing info will spend the time to answer a thread in detail in the hopes that it will inspire a new Z owner to learn how to work on, and enjoy their new hobbie.

The other type of poster to this site is a person that just wants to tell the new Z owner that they should have searched before asking the question, or they will just say, spend some money and get it fixed.

the great thing about the internet is that for both types of people the "teacher", and the "teller" they each have a "student" , "listener".

I prefer the teacher, student combo, thanks for being a good teacher Will!

Will I completely agree with what you have said . Especially the part of being a car guy is working on your car not just being seen with it. Owning a old car of any make , they take TLC to keep them on the road period . If a person buys a Z because it is a cute little sports car . The majority of the time they are the ones like to be seen in or with there Z. Unless they have money to burn the infatuation will fade before long. How many times have you seen a cherry car sold to someone and a year or so later, it looks like crap. With the amount of knowledge on this web site , any one with any mechanical ability can maintain and improve to there liking , any Z . If they have the desire , they are the true car guys . Otherwise known as a ''GEAR HEAD'' . As Will said the virus is incurable. Gary

I guess after thirty three years of one Z car that I have to agree with both Will and Gary. Still trying to get the grease off my hands this week. Almost make it and then another trip to the shop and we start all over again. As far as trying new things I am on that boat right now. I have never had a car torn this far down that I planned on driving again. I just keep learning the cleaver little things that make one month different from the next. Sure am glad I picked up the parts CD as one more time it explained why I can not get the parts I am looking for they were only used up to build 6/70. So, off to the swap to newer parts we go again. At least I know to start asking questions and looking at the books. An awful lot of great "GEAR HEADS" on this sight and around the Northwest. Thanks to all.

ok guys...just fyi...im a tinkerer...in a big way. yes i have shelled out my share of cash, but its usually to replace parts myself that ive troubleshooted as the problem. eventually i find it.. sometimes it costs more than others, but at least i have learned a lil more about my car than i did before and it helps me in the future...but the problem was solved with a few exta pennies for super unleaded gasoline. now my question is why? are z cars just that finicky when it comes to octane, or does it have something to do with how the timing is set?
