Factory undercoating?

Nutz

Recommended Posts

Actually, come to think of it there could have been a thin coating of yellow/beige primer under the tar undercoating, but definately not over the top color coat paint. Well at least not the floor pan. That my experiance with 3 240z's.

I still have the back half of the car still left to strip, i'll take some more notice when i get back to it.

To avoid confusion, how about we call the beige stuff primer or undercoat - as its known in Spray painting terms, and the Black tar stuff, we'll call that rust proofing, or underbody deadener, because thats basically what it was supposed to be.

My car has what looks like a "rust-belt undercoating job." It's even got undercoating on the bottom side of the hood. Should I take it off (the hood?) I think if I scrape it with a stick, I can get most of it, then slick it down with some solvent or furniture polish..
