Posted July 28, 200618 yr comment_176295 I just bought a 1982 Datsun 280zx the beginning of June. It's a sweet car, but needs lots of work. I can't wait to read thru the forums and hopefully get some great ideas on how to restore her. July 29, 200618 yr comment_176419 MDbrandy,If you're the one who was driving around a black Z around Champaign in 2003 then you're the reason I bought a Z in the first place! Summer of '03 was my last semester there for my dual masters (architecture and construction management), and while driving my beater to the grocery store one day, I nearly broke my neck with whiplash when I saw my first Z (looked like a black pearl edition?).Thanks!Cheers,James Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20977-hello-from-illinois/#findComment-176419 Share on other sites

Thanks! Cheers, James Nope, not me! I haven't seen that one. I have a "copper" (brown) '78 280Z that I bought in October 2004. I also have a silver '70 240Z that I bought in March 2003, but that one's in many pieces, and hasn't really been driven by me in Champaign. It sat for a couple of years off University Avenue on the west side before I chanced upon it. I've seen a dark red 280Z around, and once, a georgeous scarlet 240Z that I have not been able to track down. Several 280ZX's and 300ZX's too (both Z31 and Z32). I work on campus myself (www.csar.uiuc.edu ), but haven't seen any early Z's there other than mine. A really nice Z31 was parked on Wright street the other day beside Talbot lab . July 29, 200618 yr Author comment_176435 Thanks for the welcomes everyone! :classic: I am in the Chicago area. I am slowly finding out it takes money...lots of it to fix this car up....well to even getting running right! It sat for 6 years before I got it. But it has become an obsession! July 29, 200618 yr comment_176436 You're in my neighborhood then. I'm about 30 miles southwest of the city, and I work in Arlington Heights.I've always liked the 280XZ and particularly in that color. Good luck with her. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20977-hello-from-illinois/#findComment-176436 Share on other sites
