Posted July 30, 200618 yr comment_176475 Can anyone tell me what year these seat recliners would have originally come on? They were in my late '71 parts car (4/71). I think I'll put them in my Series 1, even though they're not really correct, because they seem much more convenient. They are much more convenient for sure.FWIW,Carl B.Clearwater, FL USAhttp://Zhome.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/20993-identify-seat-reclining-mechanism/#findComment-176476 Share on other sites
July 30, 200618 yr Author comment_176477 Thanks, Carl. Thats kind of what I thought. So they were probably the originals for the car I'm parting out. July 30, 200618 yr comment_176495 Nice find already Arnie!! :classic: An intact mechanism cover for the driver's side seat-back adjuster---pretty scarce to find in good shape if the screw mounting tabs aren't boogered!!!Someone from this site was going to reproduce those covers, and got a good number of responses to the idea, but it kinda fizzled out. I don't know what became of it.I agree that the lever type adjuster is a whole lot easier and more convenient--beats the heck out of the knob type. The mouting tabs on the covers are - of course - broken, but I have an idea or two on that. If it works I'll take pictures and share. July 31, 200618 yr comment_176551 Been thinking about that for mine as well Arnie.Epoxy as become my friend for so many repairs to plastic.I was mulling triming up a nearly destroyed one to fashion tabs---a few fabric hole re-inforcement circles used for hole punched paper----and judicious use of my friend mentioned above. It might work. :nervous: Please do let us know your thoughts and methods when you get to it.
