Recently tried using the CD for the first time, ran into difficulties. Wonder if any Mac users have suggestions (or Mike).

Working with either Firefox or Safari, after I open file:///Volumes/ZCARCD/DEFAULT.HTM and click "start here," then click on "Click Here to Open the Microfiche," I get:

> No file exists at “/Volumes/ZCARCD/zcd/baseq3/pak/yoda/S30_1a.pdf”

When I click on "If you start the CD and [Acrobat Reader] appears in your web-browser, follow this link to find out how to change it to improve quality" I get:

> No file exists at the address “/Volumes/ZCARCD/HTMLDOCS/dis_pu.htm”

This happens the same with Acrobat 5.0 booted, or not booted.

Mac OS 10.3.9 on a flat-screen iMac.

I must be doing something wrong. Suggestions?

Alternatively, if there's a way to more manually get to some useful files, that would also be useful to know about.

Thanks!

Steve.

All of the useful files on the CD are PDF files. The HTML files are simply wrappers that allow you to click on a link to launch the appropriate document. I just loaded the CD under Linux (normally I run Windows) and it works properly there. When clicking on the "Click Here to Open the Microfiche" it is simply trying to load the PDF file in "/media/cdrom0/zcd/baseq3/pak/yoda/S30_1a.pdf" which is the proper path to that file under Linux. I suggest you just forget the HTML file and directly open that PDF from the CD. Better yet, copy all of the PDF files in the yoda folder to your hard drive and open them from there.

BTW, I tried to open the CD on my 6 yr old son's iMac running OSX 10.3.9 "Panther" and it appears that the problem has to do with case sensitivity. When you are trying to open

file:///Volumes/ZCARCD/zcd/baseq3/pak/yoda/S30_1a.pdf it will fail.

Converting the middle section to upper case

file:///Volumes/ZCARCD/ZCD/BASEQ3/PAK/YODA/S30_1a.pdf

works.
