Posted August 2, 200618 yr comment_176924 Just bought a 5 speed tranny - should have it in a couple of days. Guy who I bought it from suggested I install a new clutch while I'm at it. After 10 seconds of thought I realized he was correct - it's age and type are an unknown for me so I started looking. Then I also realized there's alot of clutch kits out there, with a wide variety of prices from $99 all parts included to $500 (just a clutch and p/p). Any suggestions? August 2, 200618 yr comment_176928 If you have a NAPA Parts Dealer near you - their ZOOM Clutch Kits are the way to go. If not, then I'd bit the bullet and buy OEM Replacements from the local Nissan Dealer.Depending on what car it's for - make sure you have the right throw-out bearing collar, to match the Pressure Plate height of the new Pressure Plate. If it's a Type B 5spd, out of a 77-83 Z, then get the throw-out bearing collar that originally came with it, and order the clutch kit for the 77-83 Z's.FWIW,Carl B.Carl BeckClearwater, FL USAhttp://ZHome.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21042-sizing-up-clutch-kits/#findComment-176928 Share on other sites
August 2, 200618 yr comment_176929 Carl Beck, my man. Long time no type.I have an OEM clutch kit in my beastie, and it's been 100% trouble free. It didn't seem like bullet-biting price at the time, maybe $225 for the disk/pplate/TO bearing.Agreed on the TO collar, that's WAY important.
