Posted August 6, 200618 yr comment_177395 I am finally pulling the engine out of my 280zx parts car and am getting ready to rebuild it. The block is an F-54, and I'm putting the N-47 head on it off of my '79 zx. As you may have read in my other threads, I,m converting to triple weber 40 dcoe's . When I buy the gaskets, should I buy a whole kit for a 240z, or do I have to buy a 280zx kit and buy a seperate intake manifold gasket for a carburated model. What brand would you recommend. Is there any other gaskets that will be needed. I think the MSA header came with its own exhaust manifold gasket, but I can't remember if it was for the intake and exhaust, or it was just the exhaust section. Thanks for the help. September 1, 200618 yr comment_180710 The only difference in the gasket sets that I can think of is the head gasket and the intake/exhaust manifold gasket. Everything else 240 or 280 should be identical. If installing headers it's recommended that you get the "special" MSA intake/exhaust manifold gasket. I have heard of others using a Felpro gasket with headers and have no problems. Then on the other side of the coin, I have installed the "special" gasket and developed a pin hole leak after about two years. Now I apply a little bit of high temp silicon and so far so good. Oh yea, the intake/exhaust manifold gasket is one piece no matter what brand. September 2, 200618 yr comment_180802 I believe Ed is correct. I just went through this and bought the MSA "special" exhaust/intake gasket. It seems to work well. You might also want to buy the MSA competition oil pan gasket. It seems to be a much better material than the Fel Pro replacement.
