Posted August 10, 200618 yr comment_177809 Hi everyone, I am new to the forums and just wanted to introduce myself. My father used to have a 260z. This was not so fun because we used to take it on vacations, mom and dad in the front be in the back with luggage. I have been looking for the right car for some time and it finally came. I bought a 1971 240z from california. The original owner gave it to his son who fixed it up. The car is very clean. only needs the choke cables atached and greased. and the spedo cable fixed, it leaks tran. fluid. Other that that she it awsome. She layed down 134 RWHP at a portable dyno in Englishtown NJ. Enjoy the pictures and come check it out in Monroe CT Friday nights. Me and the Z at the dyno http://www.dyno-go.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=4nAlbum&file=index&do=showpic&pid=672 Pictures http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=11304 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21126-new-1971-240z-check-it-out/ Share on other sites
August 10, 200618 yr comment_177814 Very nice and clean car. I also have a `71. Try autocrossing the car sometime, it is a blast and a great way to find out just how far you can push a Z. They are amazing cars when you consider with a little know how a 35 year old car can be competitive with modern cars on the street and track, and they look better than most of the new cars out there too. Congratulations! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21126-new-1971-240z-check-it-out/#findComment-177814 Share on other sites

August 10, 200618 yr comment_177852 Hi Jeremy, Welcome to the group. Did you get the car from Craig Early? He was a member here...blitzkraig was his user ID I believe. I remember him sadly having to sell it. If it's the same car, you've got a good one. Craig took really good care of it. I remember the car because its got the same rims as mine. Have fun, Chris A. August 10, 200618 yr comment_177854 - Borg Warner T-5 manual transmission from ’81 280ZX turbo with performance clutchFor the life of me - I only remember the 81 280ZX Tubo being offered with and A/T. I'm pretty sure they didn't get the T-5 until 82... August 10, 200618 yr comment_177941 As far as the Trans. I only know that this was what I was toldHi Jeremy:I understand. One of the advantages of a public discussion here, is that incorrect or misleading information might be questioned as well as corrected and/or clarified if necessary.I questioned the "81 T-5"... with the hope that in the end, we'd both know if that was correct or not. As it turns out - if it's a T-5 it had to come out of either an 82 or 83 ZXT, as the 81's were available with only the A/T.FWIW,Carl B. August 11, 200618 yr comment_178162 Actually it was only available in the 1983 280ZX Turbo's. Not 1982.A guy named Bryan Little did an excellent write up on it. He installed it in his beautiful 1970 240Zhttp://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/borg.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21126-new-1971-240z-check-it-out/#findComment-178162 Share on other sites
August 11, 200618 yr comment_178167 Hi Jared:While Brian Little's web site offers a lot of useful information and it's easy to understand - I'm afraid there are several statements there that can be misleading, or are simply wrong. The 82 280ZX Turbo with the T-5 could be specified from Aug. of 1981 forward... ie. the 1982 Model Year.FWIW,Carl B.
