Pressure Washer Question

I have a Craftsman pressure washer (7 hp, 2800 psi, 2.5gpm, model #580.752400) and it is misbehaving. The motor runs fine, but the pump doesn't pump. In fact, when the motor is off and the inlet water is connected I can't get water to run through it. If I remove the high pressure hose and nozzel, water still doesn't run through the pump. I've taken the pump apart in the hope that cleaning would help (it didn't) or that I would understand the operation (I didn't). I've cleaned all of the filters. The o-rings look good and there doesn't appear to be any dirt or grit in there. There is an "unloader" that looks like it is adjustable. I'm suspicious of this part but fiddling with it didn't seem to help. Does anyone have insights into this? I love my pressure washer and want it to work again. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Sorry for such an off topic question, but the pressure washer is used on my 240z's chassis so it is tenuously related. I was hoping for a flash of insight from the list so I wouldn't have to admit defeat by this seemingly simple device.

The exploded diagram you attached is the same as the one in the device manual. Everything makes sense to me in terms of function except the "A" assembly, labeled as the "unloader". It appears to be adjustable and controls pressure by diverting the flow when the trigger is not activated. I am suspicious that it (and its adjustment) is the key to my problems with the pump, but my grasp of the big picture is very limited. The Sears help line has been anything but.

I've gone through the trouble shooting check list in the manual and have cleaned and/or replaced all of the components mentioned. I've also searched through net resources for clues and I've read a number of web pages that mention the importance of unloader adjustment, but say nothing about how its done. I'll probably break down and take the thing in for repair, but was hoping for one last shot at a DIY fix.

I just went through this with a similar pressure washer. After some research on the internet, the solution was to buy a new pump from a vendor on ebay (pressure washer). It cost $200.( about the cost of a new pressure washer) You should probably speak with someone who knows pressure washers and can tell you if your pump can be fixed or if it needs to be replaced.
