CD parts numbering question

To those of you who have the Z parts CD, I have a question. In the Index by part number, are the numbers sequential and all inclusive?

Here's an example of the genesis of my question. A seller has emailed me a part number from a dash wiring harness which he says is from a '72 240Z - 24013-E8827 and 24013-E 8828. Yet, when I look up the number in the Index by part number, the last entry I see in what would appear to be linear fashion is 24013-8803. I do not see an entry for 24013-E8827 or or 24013-E8828. Am I missing something...not looking in the correct place?

BTW, the part I am looking for is dash wiring harness 24013-E4601 (1/70 to 9/70, manual trans.) or 24013-E4602 (10/70 to 12/70, manual trans.), with subharness numbers 24013-E4650 and 24013-E4651.

The part numbers you list look like they would be from a 72, just different revision sof the same part, but they do not come up as good partnumbers or list in a succession chain-in the USA version of FAST, and they are not in my December '72 revision of the 240Z parts book. Something appears to be wrong with the partnumber-I would ask for a picture of the actual tag.

I have a spare set from a '72 I will check the part number in the next several days.

Strange, but there is no listing for a 24013-E8827 nor a 24013-E8828 in my Nissan Parts Price Book (1998 vintage). The most “similar” part numbers to those are a 24013-N3327 and a 24013-N3328, which are 240Z dash harnesses, both listed as being used from 10/72 to 7/73 with the automatic transmission.

The part numbers on the actual tags on the two dash sub-harnesses are not generally listed anywhere in the parts list as they were not available separately. So I would not expect to find those two sub-harness numbers in the parts CD.

We went through this earlier this year and you are right the harnesses only came as sets. The part numbers on the two harnesses do not match the single number in the parts list. Does it really matter any way since we can not order them from Nissan and the ones being salvaged have the separate numbers any way?

We might want to start a thread on which harness numbers are for auto and which are manual. I can get the manual numbers from the 70. Do you still have the numbers for the auto?

So Arne, follow me here and tell me if you think this assumption is correct. The main dash harness number for 1/70 to 9/70 manual transmission is 24013-E4601, and it is in the parts CD. You mentioned in other posts that the subharness numbers are 24013-E4650 and 24013-E4651, which are not shown in the parts CD.

The parts CD also lists 24013-E8801 as the dash wiring harness for 1/72 to 6/72 automatic transmissions, and 24013-E8803 as the dash wiring harness for 7/72 to 10/72. Is it reasonable to assume that any subharness numbers 24013-E88XX, or in this case 24013-E8827 and 24017-E8828 are likely subharness numbers for a ~ '72 vintage automatic transmission car?

The first part about part numbers is correct as removed from a 6/70 build date manual transmission. That is why I ask Arne if he still has the part numbers from the automatic harness he took out of his 71 automatic. I would like to get the numbers stored somewhere so we can get back to them later as someone else also asks these questions.

Jim, to answer your question about the automatic harnesses for 10/70-12/70, they were 24013-E4705 & E4706. All the harness info I had at the time I did mine is in the earlier thread - http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19793

Something to note - I'm now parting out a 4/71 manual transmission car. I already have the body and engine compartment harnesses out, will pull the dash sometime in the next few weeks. I'll post back what the harness numbers on that are at that time.

But more to the point, it appears to me that the later '71 harness is VERY similar to the 10-12/70 harness, the only difference I've found so far being the fusebox is a short pig-tail. So if you went with a matching short pig-tail fusebox, I think a later '71 harness would probably work, perhaps with minor mods.

Maybe. I may instead swap the entire harness into my car. But if I did that, I would likely have the dash harness that is now in the car available. But it may not be for several months, in either case.
