If I were you, I'd look for a much cleaner car. Even if you have to buy a California car and have it shipped to Tornonto, it would be worth it. The ebay car's body doesn't look that great and I'm sure you'll find a LOT more rust than what you see in the photos. I've learned my lesson and will spend the extra money on a clean body rather than a car that's good mechanically and questionable body-wise.

If you buy one in USA, your location, Toronto, means that you'd be importing from USA into Canada. Does that mean that you would be subject to import duties/taxes? I sold a car (on eBay) to a guy in Canada not long ago and he backed out of the deal. His story was that the import taxes were too much of a burden and that he wished he knew about that issue before he bid. Is this true? If so, it may be very beneficial to buy in Canada, or perhaps skirt the taxes by buying a 'shell'. I don't know what the regulations are, but it may be worth considering.

DeeZ, I live 4 miles south of the British Columbia (U.S./Canada border) in Wash. State and it is my understanding any car over eight years old doesn't have to pay import duty as part of NAFTA. And that was when NAFTA was first agreed upon, supposedly the duty free status applies to newer and newer cars as the agreement gets older. There are several people in my town that purchased fairly new rigs in Canada, especially when the U.S. dollar was much stronger in comparison. It should be the same going both directions as far as import/export.

Their office is somehwere near Dundas/427 I think. I even called customs when I was going to do it and all they need is a title, and a reciept. You pay tax on the purchase price related to book value which won't be much on a Z. You dont need to meet any standards because its an old vehicle. You'll need a safety if you want to drive it, if not no big deal.
