Posted August 13, 200618 yr comment_178310 My near complete 78 280z. Motor going in on Sunday! These shots show the car after I did all the body work and paint. The rear end I thought of in a dream, it was rather weird... some questions are better left unaswered. Its paint color is that of an E36 BMW. PPG BMW Cosmos Black Metallic. The struts, steering and control arms are all plated. Brakes are currently factory, but with Brembo rotors. It has a griffin radiator that will soon be running coolant through a turbo charged F54 block and N42 Head. I will be sure to post more pictures of the car when its further along. Tell me what you think. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21168-78-280z-pics/ Share on other sites

August 13, 200618 yr comment_178340 Love Z's in black, and love BRE-look spoilers.Looks like she'll be quite the monster. I even like the headlight covers against the black...and I'm not a big fan of them.Don't care for the wheels...they seem too...modern. But when it's all said, it's not my car, so my opinion doesn't matter. Do what YOU like.Make sure you let us know what's going on as you progress. August 13, 200618 yr comment_178342 Welcome to the board Terry. I love the plated calipers. Did you do the plating yourself? If so, did you tape off the piston bore to keep it from getting plated, strip the plating off the bore later, or not worry about it at all?Do you plan to paint the front crossmember or leave it bare naked and plated? It looks nice but I would paint it anyway. Due to its position the more protection the better. January 31, 200718 yr Author comment_197522 There is a place in Kenosha Wisconsin that does all my plating. This guy works for a plating company and when I bring him a box, he just takes cash under the table. I brought him as many parts that would fit in my BMW and he only wanted 20 bucks! Enigma, the calipers were disassembled when plated. I actually drove the car the other night and they seem to be stopping the car quite well. Yes I finally put the F54 block in. Having a bit of trouble with the fine tuning so I listed a post under the "Help Me !!" Forum. Sorry its been so long since I have writeen anything. Hard times in ones life are not fun. Especially when you have no time to work on your Z! Ill be sure to update the pictures soon. Thanks for the compliments!
