Posted August 18, 200618 yr comment_179024 Hello everyone my wife and I joined this site under one name. We are looking for a Z for her as a daily driver. She is really looking at the 240Z, but we havent found one yet that we can afford. We have enjoyed looking around the site and hope to get a Z soon. August 18, 200618 yr comment_179025 Welcome! Be forewarned, Zitus is highly contageous!Where are you? If you are 'newbie to the Z", you might need some local help in evaluating one. Look around, be sure to check out the search engine, it gives you access to a wealth of what to look for and what to avoid in finding the right Z for you. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21242-hi-there/#findComment-179025 Share on other sites

August 19, 200618 yr comment_179086 Welcome to the both of you . If you want any help finding one in your area it would help if you added your location in your profile . More than likely there are other Z drivers in your City or State . August 19, 200618 yr Author comment_179149 I already have my car that I have been looking for but its not a Z. Anyways is there any difference in length between the, 240, 260, or the 280? We know that the 2+2 are longer but we haven't read about the regular coupe. In your frame of reference - what would be an "affordable" price range for a daily driver that you could depend upon?FWIW.Carl B. August 19, 200618 yr comment_179190 If you swap the bumpers on a 280Z with ones from a 240Z, you lose about 3 feet of length. HAHAHAHAHAHAJAJA!... LOL *SNORT* Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21242-hi-there/#findComment-179190 Share on other sites
August 20, 200618 yr comment_179251 ~$2500 we were looking at a car in the classified area but never got a second e-mail. That price range is a little low for a car that will be a good daily driver. Most $2,500 240Z's have a nice amount of rust and other issues. August 20, 200618 yr comment_179263 The lengths of the early two seaters grew from about 162 inches to just shy of 174 inches, with the difference being made in the protrusion of the bumpers and their supports. If memory serves 70-72 were the same size, '73and early 74 were a bit longer because of bumper and bracket changes, and in '75 they gained close to a foot with the 5mph federal bumpers. You may find a good car in your price range, but I would absolutley get an experienced member to check it out-and hopefully show you what to look for.I was told of a car at a local car lot by a member, it was "reduced" to $5,900,and was the covetted "bondo special" no panels had been spared, the interior was a combination of 78-71 parts, and under the hood was evidence of a serious smack to the front. Outside the car was a beautiful 10 footer, closer it was easy to see the headlight buckets were welded to the chassis because they would not allign to the hood and fenders any other way-I would guess that the first wash would have started the rust again, and unless it was kept out of the rain, it would be in a salvage yard within a year from falling bondo. Someone bought it, and I am hoping I am the first to find it in the junk yard-it had a few series one parts...but not $1000 worth-let alone $5900.WIll Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21242-hi-there/#findComment-179263 Share on other sites

I can handle a few of the mechanical issues, and what I can't my Teachers can help. Its just the rust, I haven't had any body work classes yet. And right now our buget just got cut, found out my younger brother is going to Iraq (Army) So we are using some of our money to go see him before his ships off.
