Problems with ZX blinkers

This one has me stumped.

After a few months of sitting i jumped in and started her up,fired right up (as they do),but when i tried the blinkers,the right side went,then i tried the left and it blew a fuse,so i put another in,then that one blew and no blinkers,after alot of mucking about i pulled the relay,and it smelled like it was fried.

Does anyone know which relay is compatible these days,and the original "Niles" relay is like rockinghorse sheit,cant fint it anywhere.

IS there anything else it could have been,would a poked relay blow a fuse then blow out its-self??
