Picked up the Z today

Finally got her home after the Po finally came back from texas to do the title sign over. I was hoping it wouldve been done yesterday because I was off from work, but it worked out in the end. Here's my Z pick-up story...

Since i had to work today from 3-7:30pm i told my dad to wait for me to get off from work since i couldnt be there at 3 as planned. Instead of waiting i found out he had already picked her upand was on his way to drop it off :( ( i wanted to ride with him back) that was 20 mins before i had to get off via sneak cell phone call.so i got off Grinning like crazy with co-works asking WTH is wrong with you with only leaving my babys coming home today i left them with ??? on the faces. Anyway my mom was waiting in the parking lot and we stopped by advanced auto parts which was right across the street to pick up a car cover. My mom asked why since its going in the garage and i said it would be good to have one just incase ( im glad i did as you'll find out later) we left and halfway to the gas station my moms phone rang and it was my dad i kinda knew why he called deep down but didnt want it to happen because my mom was with me he said the car broke down on the interstate. he said it was something with the gear i knew exactly what it was[it was a missing or loose screw/bolt on the stick shift rod that came loose so the whole rod came out dislabling the car from being able to be driven]. So after a brief discussion overthe cell we had to pick him up but of course get gas firstsince our car was close to E.

So we told him to walk to the Toys R US near by since we were both so close and we would pick him up and call AAA to tow her. well we were in the gas station and guess what a AAA tow truck pulled right up and the tow was free because of my mom service she pays for. The Guy was off but was nice enough to help us. Well he towed the car back to the house and since we have a steep drive way I knew it was gonna be big trouble and it was BIG TROUBLE. The car was in the middle of a bust street since our house is on a corner and the brake was tight so pushing it was a pain in the butt. Before we could get it up the driveway we knew it wasnt gonna happen so we had to get it to the front of the house. That was about 50-75 feet away maybe more im really not sure we just knew it was a far push at night with traffic blowing and drivin by fast. So my dad being the wise one took his car and pushed the Z to the corner where we had to push while the tow truck driver steered. Which was fairly easy once we got her moving so she wasnt perfectly parked in the end but she wasnt on a busy street. And is safe and sound in front of my house where she has that supposidly uneeded carcover on her keep her safe.(hope it doesnt rain tonight)LOL ...END of story....

Will post picks tomarrow when theres actually some light.. Got plenty of parts out of the deal and several books and manuals and so part for an air condition new tires and wheels. The car was built in 11/73 and is RLS30-012443. Came an original key in good condition. I will check the chassis and engine number later when i can see. later

Yep.

Hopefully you have a mild-mannered one. You sound like another young guy (like me), and if you're lucky your Z will realize this, and be thankful that someone who truly appreciates the Z-car spirit has inherited her.

Enjoy the ride buddy. :)

Enigma - I had trouble explaining it last night as I was tired from work and push her but basically the shifter came all the way out because the bolt that holds it in place to the transmission was never put back right after the tranny was replaced. So while my dad was on his way to the house and was about to put her in 5th gear(having to much fun without me) the whole shifting rod knob and all came outta the boot. Now he could've fixed right there but didnt have a screw driver in the car and by the time we got it to the house it was dark so it was no way we were gonna get the console apart with speeding traffic in the middle of the street in a descent amount of time.

Your new baby is already speaking to you-what she is saying is this:

1. No one but you is allowed to drive her.

2. You must get a little "emergency" toolkit to keep in the car. (I keep mine with the spare tire)

Congratulations, I'm sure you treat her right.

Hey Caleb, those wheels did clean up nice. Looks good. And I see why you got a Z, dude you're like 6 foot 5 already and still growing!

I've always loved the leg room in the Z car and I'm only a runty six footer.

Best of luck and most of all have fun with the Z!

As long as you don't sit there going "Vrooom!, Vroooom!" such that the neighbors and everyone else starts thinking you've gone off the deep end...you'll be pretty much like everyone else here.

Bill on the other hand, sits in his car and goes "Vrooom...putt putt, Vrooom.... putt putt, Sputter, Sputter, Clunk, Clunk, Vroooooooom, ..... wheeeeeze ....thunk-chunk....which is why the neighbors think he's building an in-sink disposal machine.....with a spoon stuck in it.

But even he likes Led Zepp.

Now if you had said you were listening to some Arkansaw Blue-Grass Folk Medley......
