Fuel Filler design

Ok Mike, is this one of those Aussie terms that we Yanks get all befuddled with?

What is a "churn" type filler?

In the 70's, at least here in USA, they still sold Leaded Gasoline. With the introduction of Unleaded Gasoline it was necessary to restrict the introduction of Leaded into those new vehicles. (IIRC circa 74/75 or so) The newer Unleaded Fuel Pump Nozzles were a smaller diameter hose than the Unleaded Nozzles.

The earlier Z's had no problem with the larger style nozzle, but can't imagine that that was why they had such a large opening.

So, enlighten me please.

Hi Enrique,

The "churn" type filler was basicaly a fast fill device which had a bayonet type fitting at it's end, connnecting with the fuel filler.

The question arose as to whether the S-30 filler was designed with this in mind, obviously you've notice the extra large size of it as well!.

Must go as I'm involved in a debate with a idiot who believes that not only Albrecht Goertz had something to do with the design of the S-30 series Nissan. But he influenced the design of the Porsche and Healy.

Wasn't he also the one who: figured out how to slice bread, had direct influence in the gass filler design, gave the the reason the 260Z lived so long everywhere but the USA, figured out how get instant history (letters of accomplishments), and other perks, through threat of litigation, and figured out single handedly that his own actions would be solely responsable for much of the thrust of 60s/70s British humor(Sarcasm)?

In his defense, doens't sharing a planet with the ones who actually did the work count for something?

Weren't most 60s-70s Nissans graced with a cap to handle every market(spelled "large")?
