What about this injector connector from eBay? too cheap?

Do you still need to have the polarity correct, as in the AtlanticZ writeup?

Such a 'useful' response.:stupid: Anyway, in answer to Tomo's question, I have been told that the polarity doesn't matter but I made sure that it was correct when I did the upgrde on both of my cars. Once you pull back or should I say break off the old insulators the numbers are actually printed vertically along each wire. I matched them up the the new connectors as per the attachment in post #2. Make sure that you also clean the contacts on the fuel injectors. Use an emory board, small file etc. If you're referring to the connectors I've seen on eBay, they're probably the standard ones that Datsun originally used and would be subject to the same deterioration over time. The Bosch connectors, even the one's I find in the junkyard, seal better, are made of better materials, and the terminals always seem to look clean when you pull them off the injectors.

I sell two differnt types of connectors on the internet. I have the standard OEM type which work fine and lasted 30 years with no problem. These are for teh budget minded or OEM restoration guys. I sell these on ebay pretty cheap. I also have the weathertite connectors. They are more expensive, but are much better. They come as a kit and have to be assembled. There is a silicone seal that goes over the wires to keep the moisture out. They are also easier to take off.

Since the Z cars are batch fire, the order doesn't matter nor the polarity. The injector is simply a coil, and it doesn't care which is + and which is -.

The AtlanticZ article makes a significant effort to note the polarity of the pins on the injectors and that you connect them so. I know that coils prefer to have a certain polarity (like speakers), but they still work either way.

It would be a more dificult (tedious) thing to check and see that the wiring was of correct polarity in the first place!

Did they actually just let you look around a JY and snip injector connectors?? Which ones did you notice would work best for our purpose? Did you notice any (or all?) with the rubber boots and/or the thumb release button?

From the eBay descriptions of the connectors, it appears that many of the injectors used during the 80s had the connectors we we would need. It would help to know what to look for, or perhaps yuou could just yank a whole injector harness from, say, a V6 or V8 engine, possibly avoiding swapping all those ends and just adding a new ECU connector, which would be less visible.

Any pick-n-pull/pick-a-part will let you roam around for a $1 or $2.

Volvos used the Bosch connectors which had the quick release feature and every time I pulled one at a junkyard it was still like new. No corrosion of the contacts and the plastic wasnt falling apart. Good parts.

I looked up the specs on BMWs, and they are still using inline 6-cylinder engines (L6 engines) with f.i. That might be a source of a complete injector harness (just really expensive.) I'm not sure if the connectors are compatible. From the pictures I saw on eBay, it doesn't look so. Need to keep looking.

The modern injector clips won't fit our type of injectors. I have taken the entire BMW harness on a couple of occaisions with the idea of using it in its' entirety, but it is much simpler to do the individual connectors than it would be to use the BMW harness. BMW 6 cyl from the early to mid 80s have the connectors as well as Volvos but I don't know which years. Here's the back three on my Z. They look better than OEM IMO.

That's what my research is indicating. I'm going with a 328i model from around 82-90. Also considering other BMWs from 3 series to 5 series with 6-cyl engines.. Maybe those will be compatible, and 'new-looking.' IMO, modern injectors are all weird. Maybe they hve each their own Fuel-molecule-alignment magnets or ECUs inside...

I think you are kind of over thinking it. It's pretty simple. Take a look at the attachment in my last post.

Just spending some free time looking for a way to not spend $100+ on connectors, and several weeks soldering & crimping.
