MAX Posted August 30, 2006 Share #13 Posted August 30, 2006 Has anyone ever put a pair of speakers in the front besides the usual mounting in the doors? I'd like to hear about it if so.thanksMAX
TomoHawk Posted August 30, 2006 Share #14 Posted August 30, 2006 If you put a wooden speaker box in the back, how do you get to the lightbulbs?
catfish_wiskerz Posted August 30, 2006 Share #15 Posted August 30, 2006 Jim,As others have stated, Motorsport should have a box for you. Make sure though that you get a set of baffles for the speakers http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/learningcenter/car/component_speakers_installation_guide.html?page=7. I have a MSA box in my Z with 6x9 Infiniti Kappas and neglected to install the baffles; talk about rattling the rear end!!! Went back and installed them and the sound is great - inside and outside the car. Good louck!!Cat:beard:
240ZMan Posted August 30, 2006 Share #16 Posted August 30, 2006 If you put a wooden speaker box in the back, how do you get to the lightbulbs?Just remove the mounting screws and the entire box slides forwards. Not the most convenient, but the bulbs don't burn out too often.
sblake01 Posted August 30, 2006 Share #17 Posted August 30, 2006 There are no speakers above the towers in a 78 280Z. They are just behind the doors and below the side windows.
=Enigma= Posted August 31, 2006 Share #18 Posted August 31, 2006 I have a circular perforated area above the towers as well. I assumed that they were for the vents. As for speakers, the PO cut holes in the doors as well as the rear side panels and put in some ultra cheapo(even for the 70-80's) speakers. I just interpreted his "above the towers" to mean this. Maybe that was a bit of a stretch.

hls30.com Posted September 2, 2006 Share #23 Posted September 2, 2006 OK, I finally got my camera, campact flash card, charges batteries, ZX, and my brain all at the same place at the same time, here is what I did. 2 10 inch Cerwin Vega!(before the buyout) woofers in a box (I did the math and got the correct volume behind them) fitted into the fender., carpeted the box to match the floors and roof panel, and painted the grills to match the plastic.
