Since I doubt you would inspect these cars and ship them out of the goodness of your heart, I believe that you would charge some sort of fee for this service correct? Which makes you a business.

This is the General Discussion Thead.

Let me point you towards the Rules of this section:

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/announcement.php?f=114

"Commercial postings are prohibited on this site"

Though it does specifically say "sell merchandise" I believe Mike means Goods and Services. In which case you should discuss the club sponsorship program with Mike.

"A special forum may be created for any Vendor that wishes to participate in the club sponsorship program".

You can Advetise your car locating and transporting services there.

So far it seems to me anyway, that the man is researching, not selling. And like it or not, vintagecarman, it does come off as commercial and rather spammish as this subject matter appears to be the only thing you've posted on this site. Don't be too put upon by the responses. Many of us have been here for a while. You're fairly new. If you are legit then you are legit. Time will tell.

To what degree would this be considered a business? I mean, what is all the time and effort in helping someone out worth?

There have been many instances where I have sold dirt cheap or given away parts only to see them relisted for sale. Now stuff like that gets on my nerves more than anything else. So from this point on, I no longer go out of my way unless there is at least a little compensation for my time and effort.

Even though I do not post much on this forum, I do alot of reading on it. At least vintagcarman asked about interest instead of joining just to sell through the classifieds. Prime exampe http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1410&cat=4 Joins forum and starts selling the same day http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/member.php?u=12520

Even if vintagecarman was doing this soley for the money, he definetly would not make that much at it. Lets face it, there is just not as much of a market for the Z's as we all would like. Not many will stomach the thought of spending $800 to $1200 shipping a little to no rust Z being purchased for $500 to $1000.

Several members here would donate time and materials to another member to help with a restoration-I'm in that group. Having said that, It grates my nerves too when parts I gave away are sold (unless I am in the loop ahead of time), but that just means no more will follow those to that person. Victor recently offered a very restorable truck for free as long as it was to be restored and not parted or sold.

If I ask someone to help me by checking out a car or piulling some parts, I make sure they aren't out anything but the time-I offer to pay for their travel, food, and incidentals, and then add something they weren't expecting. I offer because some people-myself included-get offended when someone won't accept a gift-and true help is a gift. Business do not offer help, they sell service.

Craigslist - http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/200507400.html

Craigslist- http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/200886580.html

Craigslist - http://fresno.craigslist.org/car/199647597.html

Craigslist - http://fresno.craigslist.org/car/196571615.html

See a pattern? We can all check craigslist. As you see, I found the same 4 cars you found and if I wanted could buy and have them shipped without your help and or mark-up.

So, what do you bring to the table?

See, this is the type of post that I feel is unnecessary. Truth is, I have a passion for the Z's and want to be involved. My intentions are genuine and sincere.

Moonpop, sure find the same listing’s then book a flight and go buy one or take some random guys word and send your cashiers check. Either way, good Luck!

What do I bring to the table? I have credentials a mile long in the car industry and know cars like the back of my hand. I know the difference between garbage and a diamond. Your attitude Sucks and your one of the members who should take a hard look at your disposition.

Honestly I feel there are a few member who can see that my intentions are legitimate and I’m not a liar, thief, spammer or criminal. Sure, I would like to make a few extra bucks a month any enjoy working with a car line I appreciate. Can you blame me? AND I am damn sure there are Z lovers who would kill to have the ability to pick and choose like I can.

I sold over 500 classic and vintage amd muscle cars in a four year period. I specialized in finding clean rust free cars under $15000 and shipped them eastward. Like I mentioned before, all the decent west coast investment muscle have been plundered. However, the Z’s have been over looked and are very plentiful! TRUST ME!

Honestly after just a few days on this site I feel less compelled to take up the project as a few bad apples have ruined it for the rest of us.

If there are any member’s who are interested in finding a cheap west coast rust free Z for under $3000. pm me and we can discuss options.

OK, Vintagecarman. We're all paying attention now. We've all read these posts and I can honestly say you may have been met with the vibe you have given off. Has it been fair to you? Look at what you've said and tell us. I think youve been as big of an *ss as everyone else.

You came here a stranger and made some claims, and had a few people including myself respond to you.

Now instead of getting into arguments with members heres what I think you should do:

Take this time to validate what you have said. You can demand we take you seriously and argue with members if you like, but that may even put off serious cutomers. Explain your business and detail the process of how you get the job done. Show us your website if you have one. Provide some specific examples that can be verified so your credibility as a legitamate business can be established here. After all, you were a stranger a few days ago.

I'm sure there is interest here for a car locating and shipping service. Youre the one who claims you can do it, so now here is an opportunity for you to verify and validate what you've said. You can use this opportunity to move forward and prove your business.

This is just my opinion, maybe not everyone elses.

Let me see if I've got this correct:

1) you're new to this site and claim you can literally find hundreds of clean 70's vintage Zs.

2) When asked to validate that claim, you take offense, but offer up a few examples.

3) When it's pointed out that all those examples are taken from Craigslist, you take more offense, rather than explaining the value you can add.

4) Now you're further complaining about the attitude you're feeling here, yet claim again that clean early Zs are plentiful and that we should just trust you.

Vintagecarman, I'm sure you know that trust is something you EARN. And your claims of experience and success in the past might be true, BUT WE DON'T KNOW. If you want to be trusted and respected, you have to earn it, just like everyone else does. It feels like you want to short cirucuit that, and most of the people on this thread, myself included, aren't buying it.

That's really too bad, because if you really can do what you say you can, then you would likely have a lot of success here. But I think you might want to rethink your whole approach. The real product you're selling here is yourself, and so far, you're not doing too well.

PASS! This truly is not worth the hassle.

I came to this site thinking that I had a good idea and that it might work out for all involved, I do not need to prove myself or my abilities to any one.

Sorry if my approach was bad or had a defensive attitude, I will now move on my way.
