1st time poster with a questions

I'm just confused as to what value he thinks he would be adding by "helping" east coast people to buy CA cars that anyone can find on craigslist by themselves. How much would he propose to charge for this "service"? Was he offering an inspection service? I think those are easy enough to find, and he didn't come across as a real Z specialist. I think most members here would be happy to check out cars in their area for someone else on the site for free.

I bought my 280 from California last year - all done through emails and electronic pics. It was a harrowing experience but it did work and the car was as described - virtually no rust. It wasn't cheap though - Shipping was $3000 (the car was less than the shipping)

No doubt that there are nice cars down that way and I have seen several on ebay and other sources. But they are not all true beauties. There are some tidy deceptions that have been exposed through post purchase overhauls.

I would like to get a 70 or a 71 but the fear factor goes through the roof when I concider the potential for it to go badly. It would be nice to have an experienced Z owner to have a look first hand.

it's amazing how many ads for Z cars say "rust free". just ask mull in sweden. watch his videos. plus new paint and undercoat can hide a lot of rust.

As someone who was critical of him, I personally didn't have any issue with him offering a service of finding/matching cars with buyers. While not everyone here values this, some do, and if he was good at it, I suspect he could make a nice side business out of it.

My real issue is that he made pretty outrageous claims, and then took offense when asked to back them up, and then when he offered some examples, they were nothing more than the result of searching Craig's List. And then he took more offense when some of us didn't see the vaue in what he was offering.

One of the best things that can happen when selling anything, is if the potential buyer gives an objection. That let's the seller continue the discussion and explain how they add value. It's an opportunity. He clearly didn't see it that way, and the results speak for themselves.

I also dont think he understood that the real "product" he was selling was himself. If people don't trust/like/feel comfrotable with/etc. you, then you are not going to have success, which he proved in spades.

As a seller, you have to earn peoples' trust and offer credible references when you are in a new environment, such as joining this board. I suspect that if he had found one person for whom he could provide a car, and that process went well, then he could have built off that reference with others. It's really common sense. But it takes time and patience, something he wasn't willing to invest here.

I have no problem with this guy making money selling Zs to people who want them. I was thinking about getting one myself. But his claims and not being able to provide "proof" of them raised the BS flag. Another scammer exposed. Critical people of this forum ferrets them out to the benefit of the rest. THANK YOU ! ! ! !

........So what if the guy is out to make a few bucks.... But why not save a few of them from the crushers? Even if someone makes a few dollars at it.

I just don't think this was the guy to do it. At least, not here. His responses to the questions asked and his general attitude pretty much prooved that. Sajiko's previous post sums it up quite well. I think its time to put this one to bed!
