I have to agree with vintagecarman about how many good fixable Z's there are around Sacramento. Many of them are parked or on blocks. Mostly I pay attention to the 240Z - 280Z's but I also see lots of 280ZX's.

There was a Z31 that sat with a for sale sign on it for $300.00. Needed a transmission but the car was in great shape otherwise. Saw that one sit for 6 months. Passed it everyday going to work.

See a pattern? We can all check craigslist. As you see, I found the same 4 cars you found and if I wanted could buy and have them shipped without your help and or mark-up.

So, what do you bring to the table?

OK. There is interest for the cars here. Vintagecarman, if you can supply 'em, we're more than willing to buy 'em. Guys and gals, put in your orders and let him go find 'em. Even I'm thinking about getting one, despite my love for my Skyline. A matched pair of vintage cars would be nice.

Kidding about wh:rambo: at?

The reason I responded as I did , is because we have been SCAMED on this site by devious people . I subscribe to the notion that IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE , MOST LIKELY IT IS . We have had 12 , 13 year old passing out advise on how to do things . And a couple of times they got away with it , until someone of us read the exchange and put a stop to the bogus advise. I am a little jaded I guess and no harm WAS or IS intended IF YOU ARE LEGIT. That's all . I also could vary well be a buyer . As a word of advise . At present I would look to find good 240Z as they are increasing in value faster just because of availability . Good clean 280Z should not be ignored however . The market is just not as strong . 2 + 2 are not as popular either . I know of a member right now that is contemplating on having a '71 240 that we all would regard as a terminal rust bucket , with good interior , shipped across the US . The value of the whole car isn't worth the cost of shipping. At least to me it isn't. Gary:rambo:

If it is in the Sacramento area I will be more than happy to verify a persons intentions. I personaly hate seeing good Z's go to scrap.

Perhaps I'm a bit naive but I took this post as a legitimate attempt to gauge interest in clean rust free cars from the west coast from someone in the business of identifying a market niche and filling a need. Perhaps I'm not as jaded as the rest of you when it come to site spammers.

Not to pick on you Zak, but when I read your post I immediately sensed hostility and sarcasm on your part. Not malicious but certainly not innocent either.

Hopefully this will not drive this guy away thinking we are all a bunch of assholes like you find in so many of the other enthusiast sites out there. If in fact he is legeit and can help one or more of you find some decent cars at a fair market price, that would be a real shame.

I can also attest that there are quite a few clean, rust free or fairly rust free Zs here in Cali selling at reasonable prices. Hundred, I'm not so sure about that but like Moonpu pointed out, he said he "could find" not "did find" or "have on hand".

Perhaps if you see a post that you think is spam, the best thing to do is ignore it and let the more emotional posters ferret it out. Oh wait! That's what's going on isn't it. ROFL ROFL ROFL

Ditto, Enigma.

Personally, I think what set people off was the [hundreds of rust free] phrase.

The thought of finding good bodied cars and sending them cross country is a great idea, as long as the potential buyer has a fair idea of the quality of the vehicle. Seems about the same as buying of ebay or craigslist, with one difference, someone who is trying to specialize in selling a specialized model lineup to very particular clientele.

VintageCarMan-I think everyone here has had some trouble with exagerations, especially those dealing with rust (a little surface rust, a dime sized hole, rust free frame rails/doglegs/floorpans, etc.) I know I did. You should have seen my expression once I got my ZX up on a lift-frame rails, what frame rails?!?

You will find, if you just read threads at random, that damn near everyone here is VERY, VERY NICE, ENTHUSIASTIC, and HELPFUL (even to strangers who post once and never return). Of course, everyone has bad days.

The key is to clearly state what you have to say, be it a business proposition or question about FI engines.

Since the members on this forum cannot see or touch my car when they try to help with problems, CLARITY is the key in questioning, if I am to get helpful advice, the same goes for everyone here, including you.

Hopefully you will not think us to be a group of prats, because we are not.

Just please, please, say what you mean, and mean what you say.

just my piece...

Here is my question. I live in Sacramento and buy and sell later model imports for a living. I am constantly finding clean rust free Z's dirt cheap. Are Z's readily available else where in the country and is there a demand that I can fill on the east coast.

When I read Vintagecarman's post, it seemed to me that it was implied that through his job, contacts or whatever, he had access to these cars that most folks otherwise wouldn't.

Yet the examples he pointed out were all vehicles listed on Craigslist that millions of internet users would have the same access to.

Nothing special about that.

No problem. No hostility whatsoever, but I'll admit to the sarcasm. I thought it was fair game after I read his reply to KenshinX's post and inferred the sarcasm there. After all, fact is he did make a grand claim - a sales pitch in fact, and came up with Craigslist ads.

Lets not debate the semantics and intonations of what he said, or how he said it. Lets let the guy get to work and come up with cars. I still want (at least) one '72 rust free rolling shell.

Vintagecarman, feel free to PM me if you end up going through with this and can get us some good deals.

Zak

Vintagecarman (if you're still coming on here):

Try not to take the subdued hostility displayed by some of the members here too badly. Please understand that some of the people here have been searching for years to find a rust-free Z worthy of their attention AND/OR are muddling their way through rust damage and doing serious body work to correct rust-damage.

I make this point to offer the idea that perhaps some people are feeling a bit resentful when you say that you could almost, in a sense, snap your fingers and have "hundreds" of "rust-free" Z's at your disposal. After all, it took them a lot of time, effort, and possibly long-distance travel to arrive at this point in their resto. project, and to say that you could have delivered an awesome Z to them after hardly even lifting a finger to search, I can imagine, would make people feel rather upset... like "Jesus buddy, if that were true, how come it took me X amount of time to find mine?"

Beautifully restored Z's don't hold a huge market value, so bringing a Z to life is, quite literally, a labor of love. Some people spend years of their spare-time fixing nothing but rust damage... and again, I'm sure we can agree that having someone tell you that this could have, effortlessly, been avoided... well... it's not fun.

My two cents here.

Welcome BTW. :)
