Dudes,

This totally sucks! My 2 kids are old enough to know the "Crocodile Hunter", but too young to understand death...

I loved Steve Irwin, I thought he was fantastic at what he did and how he interested people in animals, namely crocs. Unfortunately, his accident was such a freaky bad luck situation that those not in the know will assume it was his "fault". The reality is the guy knew his stuff, this was not a case of recklessness.

My thoughts are with his family. God speed and CRIKEY! :(

Bit of a shock, Steve was one of those people larger than life, you just don't expect a fatality, maybe a scratch or two but not the final curtain. A truly unique individual who apparently had universal appeal, not many of those around.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Steve Irwin. Such a total shock for us all. My heart goes out to his family and pray for his Wife and two kids. Definitely a unique person and personality . He was passionate about conservation and treatment of all animals all over the world . As was mentioned by others he brought the knowledge to our young people in a way that impressed them greatly. He will be missed by us all . Gary

Yair,

A terrible tragedy.

Channel Nine has put together a program on Steve which will be shown tomorrow night.

I tried to log onto one of his sites to offer my condolences but they ALL appear to have been shut down. I guess it's understandable.

At this point in time, there's a fair bitabout steve at;

You'll have to be quick though.

Rick.

A tragedy indeed, and my heart goes out to his wife and children. Steve was larger than life. Im really sad. I watched him all the time with my kids, and they just love him. The huge milestones he made in wildlife education and conservation will not be forgotten, and I hope his work continues.

I saw an interview of his, where he stated that

"If I can pass on the torch of animal conservation to my children and to others, then I'll gladly step aside and let them carry on."

If the response the world over is indicative of how much he enlightened everyone as to his cause, then he'll be well honored as he goes off into the ether...His Honor Guard will be the thousands of torches he lit here on Earth.

I was sad to to read about the death of Steve. What a shock it was to sign out of hotmail onto ninemsn to find out about it too.

Needless to say, I had a few beers for Steve Monday night with the other Aussie I had dinner with in Japan.
