Carl,

I am confused - $5,500 for the yellow Z you posted? Even with floorboard replacement, I'd think that's a pretty good deal, no?

Never had to replace a floorboard, although I know it's not trivial.

Rich

Hi Rich:

Yes - $5,500.00 is certainly priced to sell - and back here East of the Mississippi that a pretty good deal. Shipping from California is now around $1,500.00 alone.

As I recall - a replacement floorboard set from Charlie is around $250.00 (both floorboards and both frame rails under them). Then you would have between $650.00 and $850.00 in labor if you lived in this area... maybe slightly more or less depending on where you live and who you know.

FWIW,

Carl

I would proceed with caution. In my experience if the floors have had this much repair the rust is not limited to the floors. Take a close look at the overlaps in the sheet metal. Look for distortion of the joint (top panel pushed up between the welds). Look for “thick joints” extra body filler over the lap joint to hide the distortion. The car has a slick paint job, what’s under it? It is hard to tell from photos. I’m just saying this car is suspect at this point with an unclear history. Don’t over rate it.

What's another Z Bob? Car looks pretty nice.

Mark,

You know how the Z car thing works: one is never enough. In all seriousness though the lack of records and the rust issue is an area of concern. at the moment I am gathering some information on a Ca. 240Z (blue plate special) which is a weird animal. It is date stamped as an 08/70 yet the serial number is HLS30-02847 (maybe the numbers should be 08247--as mine is an 08/70 with 08323). In any case it seems like a nice car but no history.
