New name

As brought up in another thread that was moved over to the Z side, maybe we should change this area's name. This is two-fold: one, to recognize the growing diversity of the cars here (C10, C110, C210) and two, to reduce mis-posts by others thinking that this is 240Z vice 240K.

Suggestions ?

Heres the original Post and Poll from when I had the Other Datsuns idea in the first place.

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11128

I think the idea behind naming the forum 240K was to stop the site being overrun with discussion about 4 cylinder datsuns.

I think renaming the current 240K forum to "Datsun Skyline" would stop people mistaking it for the 240Z forum.

I think there reason some people post in the 240K forum instead of the 240Z forum is this page:

I think people see Datsun 240.... sticking out on the end and thats all they read.

I think we should just leave it like it is rather than argue about the need for another fourm like was done in the poll you linked to. I don't have a problem working around post that are in the wrong thread or forum. Hell, how many times have you seen our beloved Tomohawk twist these threads and forums around with his 'forward' thinking.

I agree that it may be time for a change. We do seem to have more than the typical 240K being discussed here. I would suggest that we change the name to "Classic Skyline". This would keep the discussion from getting out of hand. I think it should be anything before the R32. Seeing as the R31 is going on 20 years old now I think we should include it. There are plenty of other forums for the R32, R33, and R34. What I find nice about this one is that we have managed to stay away from too much of the "yo tyte JDM" talk that is all too common on other Skyline forums. I have also found that this is pretty much the only place for genuine classic Skyline discussion. I do frequent other forums, but I seem to be more of a novelty than any thing else. Here, even though I don't drive a 240K (yet) and I don't live in Aus., I have been welcomed without question. I'm sure Miles and Mike would agree as well. Anyhow, this is my idea.

IS this where i can ask about how i can get my V36 Skyline to shoot flames out it's arse??

seriously.. i think we should try and keep the cut off at C210.. R30 and above are catered for on SAU, SDU, R31Skylines etc.. (i know classics are too on SAU, but that is mostly C210, R30,R31... R30+ are WELL catered for)..

My vote would be for "Prince / Datsun Skylines" don't mention 240 anything :) i would love for more prince owners to get on here :)

We must remember that this is a classic Z website, and Mike has put great effort into making sure it stays that way. Even the 280ZX is not really very welcome here. He created the 240K forums as there were a few of us who were posting here and there simply wasn't anywhere else for us to go!!! It was a compromise.

Not wanting to put words in Mike's mouth, I don't think this site is about to expand to cater for much more than it already is. I agree that a name change would be a good thing (as I have said in the past) but don't think it needs to be anything more than "Classic Skylines". But honestly, I don't mind moving a thread every now and then.

If you do see something that is not where it should be, please use the "report" button rather than replying about it. This way, all Moderators will get the message and the topic will be soon moved. :)
