Posted September 15, 200618 yr comment_182589 Does anyone use the urethane outer toe rod boots provided in the Energy Suspension Master kit, or recommend against using them? They seem to fit OK but might fit a little better by cutting a groove on the inner surface to that they actually lock onto small flange on the outter tie rod end. Any comments or experience will be appreciated? September 15, 200618 yr comment_182597 I was a little leery of using them on my 260. They didn't feel like they would stay on without a "snap" fit. But I used them anyway. Once they are tightened down they are a pretty tight fit. Even when filled with grease they appear to be sealed tight. I don't see them being a problem, but I only have about 50 miles on them since replacing all the bushings. September 15, 200618 yr comment_182613 I used the Prothane brand and had the same question.I found it hard to belive they would hold grease so I emailed tech support and they assured me they would seal properly. 6mo so far so good. September 16, 200618 yr Author comment_182671 Thanks guys. I'll give them a ride then. I guess once the tie rod is bolted to the steering arm it will actually hold it on anyway. However my main concern was that it wouldn't hold the grease in, or even worse that it wouldn't keep water and dirt out. September 16, 200618 yr comment_182696 The interference fit is what makes them seal. Common installation. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21585-opinion-needed-use-of-es-outer-tie-rod-boots/#findComment-182696 Share on other sites
