Posted September 19, 200618 yr comment_182947 Well it's been a little while but to update those that remember my fuel rail leak issue - I was finally able to locate a used one from a place called Z Car Source out of AZ. If you remember I was going to try Z Barn. Well those bastards wasted my time. They only answered me a couple times. First they said that they could get the fuel rail for me and asked if I wanted it. I said yes and never heard back. Total wast of my time. Then I searched for another place and came across Ultimate Z and they did the same damn thing. Never got back to me and ignored my e-mails. I was really starting to get pissed trying to locate one that I pulled my original fuel rail out of my Z and was going to have a weld shop re weld it until I finally came across Z Car Source. I was surprised that these people actually cared They answered me A.S.A.P. and said " Yes, we got that fuel rail available Jared. call if you want to go ahead and place your order" So I did and I received it today after work. Unfortunately these are N.L.A. through Nissan so it is used but looks great. It just needed a good cleaning. (see photos) You can tell that the 280Z this fuel rail came from had a rust issue Notice the spot it left on my pants when i blew it out with compressed air (Glad I left my work uniform on ) I continued to blow the rail out really good then sprayed the fuel pipes inside really good with carb/throttle cleaner and then blew it out again. I did this a few times and now it looks good. - I'm looking forward to getting my baby going again this weekend. I also got new 5/16 high pressure fuel hose with new clamps, new injectors, holders, top and bottom 0 rings that I'm going to do this weekend as well so she should be in pretty good shape after this. Anyway just thought I'd let those that followed my fuel rail leak thread know what I've been up to Take care Z friends, Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21622-hello-all/ Share on other sites

I think you should have taken the one I found you. It would have cleaned up nice and you'd have been several weeks ahead of where you are now. But, anyway, good luck getting the blue beauty running again. Chris A. September 23, 200618 yr comment_183453 Jared, I remember the situation but the car I went to look at was gone. I actually had found another one but with Chris and others who live closer to you offering to look for one, I just figured it was under control. Glad you found one and will be on the road again soon. I'm kind of partial to blue 280Z's. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21622-hello-all/#findComment-183453 Share on other sites
September 24, 200618 yr Author comment_183496 Hello Chis, Yeah, I know but this one cleaned up good too. Plus Z Car Source is backing it up too if it has any issues so can't really beat that But I do appreciate all your trouble man. Stephen, Thanks for the compliments. Yours is sharp looking too. Don't worry about it. The main thing is I got my hands on the fuel rail finally Larry, I know of Pallnets fuel rails. However I want to keep my baby original Well anyways I had to go to work part of the morning for a little overtime, then went to work on my baby. Everything went good and man am I glad I splurged and got all new Nissan Injectors with new 0 rings, holders, ect. you'll see why in my photos. Here are all the old dirty original 1977 injectors: This one injector had a crack in the insulation  I used my DeoxIt (the best ) to clean all the injector connectors. You can also see the dried out, cracked top 0 ring to the right of the DeoxIt can which I had tocut off the old injector because the rubber was so hard it was froze onto the old injector. The reason for removing the old 0 ring was to take the top metal piece off that goes on top of the plastic holder. As you can clearly see in the photos and the condition the 0 rings were in, these injectors had issues due to there old age. Believe it or not, these actually were still working fine too prior to this fuel rail leak which is surprising and I almost left them because they were working ok. Damn glad I didn't. I would have been redoing this lovely job over again to replace them later. When I installed my new 0 rings, I used a little bit of three in one oil on them to lubricate them which is what you want to do. I still have few little things left to do yet, but I called it quits for tonight because both me and my back are tired & sore It's hell on your back when your leaning over the engine bay like that for a while But I got a lot done. I got my new injectors installed with new top & bottom 0 rings and plastic holders, cleaned all injector connectors with my DeoxIt, installed new Factory Nissan high Pressure 5/16 fuel hoses with all new Nissan hose clamps. Anyways I can't wait to drive her tomorrow Take care fellow Z'ers, Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21622-hello-all/#findComment-183496 Share on other sites

October 1, 200618 yr Author comment_184285 Well today I took my Z out for the first time after working on it. I was unable to last weekend because I started late last sunday finishing up on the little things I had left to do and it got to late. Anyways what a difference. All my hard work and waiting for the parts paid off My Z has never ran as good as it does now and idles so much smoother than before. Also now when I take off from a stop, my Z throws me right back in my seat It's awesome but now I have to keep closer tabs on my speed. When I got on the highway today, I was amazed how fast she hit 85 MPH and not far up was a state trooper hiding in the center ditch  Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21622-hello-all/#findComment-184285 Share on other sites
