I went to the local nissan dealer to get an OEM oil filter for the 240Z, he said h had some but there were down in storage. He came back with an old drity Nissan box with a big blue oil filter in it. I didnt think it was usuable but it was so cool I paid him the $4.50 and took it with me. Nobody at zcar.com seems to know how old it might be, you guys seem to be more into this kind of thing so I figured I'd ask here....

See any kind of label or date code on the box or filter?? If so you might be able to get a better idea as to a date.....sometimes they have a shipping label on the box if it came in as a single item.

No date or shipping label on the box, just a chart for what it fits and a part number. All the cars it fits are listed, the newest is a 76 and up KH620. Dont know if thats a clue.

Fliter has a number besides the main part number, no idea what it means but it's T1217

Even better, find out how many folks need an OEM original filter and sell it to them with a small profit. There are some Concours owners who would jump to have one of these.

Gee, I didn't know that these were difficult to come by. I use these from my Nissan parts supplier for my show car, and he seems to have these readily available. I believe that Banzai Motorworks also sells these from there online catalogue. Guess I had better stock up.

I think the ones with the word "Nissan" on them are easy to come by, they look the same except the don't have the word "Datsun" on them. I prefer using them, I currently have on my 73; it looks exactly like the one the picture but no word Datsun. Nice find.

I dont plan on using it, I'm afraid the old paper element will break down or something. Suprisingly the gasket on it is still soft and plyable.

It says Nissan on the other side of the filter and Datsun on the side shown.
