September 23, 200618 yr comment_183481 It's a wire that runs under the seat from side to side. As I recall it's actually two wires that are side-by-side in the middle. It's used to properly fit the vinyl seat bottom to the seat cushion - without it the seat bottom would not be contoured properly. There are hog rings that hold a loop of vinyl to the wire. September 23, 200618 yr comment_183489 What Mike said. Except I think in my car there was only one of those right in that location. There's going to be another loop just like the one in the photo, on the other end. They come out either end of a stitched sleeve in the upholstery, roughly 9-10" long and then get attached to the metal below with hog rings. If you have a 72, it goes right to the steel springs. Should be very easy to deal with if you take the seat out of the car.Steve. September 24, 200618 yr comment_183503 I don't know if I'd say 'pretty damn easy' to get the seats out, but it's really not that hard. Good luck. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21674-seat-problem/#findComment-183503 Share on other sites

September 24, 200618 yr comment_183512 I am sorry. If removing a seat from a early Z is not classified as a EASY job. Don't do any thing else on the car because it is all harder from here !
