I was looking at the catagories on this site and relized that I had never introduced myself. I've been a member of this site for over 3 years and learned just about everything I know about Z cars from here. This has been an awesome resorce for me.

My car is a total restoration, I found it in a dirt lot in Fontucky (A.K.A Fontana) missing a front tire and the driver side window. The window had been gone for over a year and in that time the dirt from the lot had moved into the car ... about an inch of it! The Body was about as straight as a 90 year old womans face. The engine had spider webs and dirt all over it, and the PO had tried to make some sort of a dragster out of it and replaced the rear springs with somthing out of a monster truck, so the back end was about 4 inches higher than stock... AND it was a salvage title. I took a good look at it and thought ... this is the car for me.

I bought it for $500 ... its a 72 240 with all of its parts.

31/2 years later I have almost all the body work done she is straight as a razor and just about ready for paint.

The engine has been rebuilt from the ground up (L28, F54, N42, schnider cam 460,270, headers, 2.5 exaust, SU's, steel head gasket 9.2:1 CR, electric Dizzy)

5 speed trans, all new urathane bushings, new weather striping, new interior, Miata seats, like new dash, all the insterments have been redone to look like new (the clock still doesn't work though:disappoin )

My end goal for my 72 Z is to have it turbo'd (I have almost all the parts) put killer AC and power door locks ... I'm hoping for a 300RWHP hybrid 240Z.

I love working on my Z its a great hobbie and I'm allways looking for Z buddies if you live in the Souther California(LA or Orange counties) area let me know.

I lived in Covina, West Covina, and Fontana for a while. Even Pomona, Upland, and La Verne. My home is now northern San Bernardino which is just accross the 30/210 from you.

Yep there are a couple of us close by. Covina, sometimes we stop in at that 76 gas station off the 10fwy and get that 100 octane gas for the car. Except they don't have that Cool Blue fuel anymore... something fruity now.

Anyways, i'm sure sometime we all could meet up. Except can't really go far with the race car on the street...

Sure that counts! School in Claremont, there are some nice schools there, one is quit expensive...Havey Mudd University... it's got some nice area around the school with preppy little coffee shops, cafes, places where people eat stuff like salads, sticks & bird seed (healthy food ya know). But nice to be in the Claremont area.

Trust me, I know first hand how expensive Mudd is, as that is where my son is now. In his last year, thank goodness.

I have been down there a time or two on business as well, spent a week working in Chino in 2003. I think I was staying in Ontario during that assignment.

I've seen several nice areas in the Inland Empire.

Hi Matt,

If I remember right (my wife usually take the gas cans and fills them there) I believe it is Citrus Ave. South side of the 10fwy. 76 Station there has a pump there with 100 octane, lots of muscle cars buy from there. About a year ago I got spooked when I pumped some into a glass bottle to check it and it wasn't what I expected. So for a while I was getting VP-101 from a Shell station off of White Ave & Arrow Hwy near the Fair Grounds.

Couple weeks ago, Cindy purchase it from 76 again to see how it does it is okay, but was $6.60 a gallon. VP fuel at Willow Springs Track in Palmdale it is only $6.00 gal. and they just put in new pumps too, so we just wait and get it there. Many here think it is a waste, and so do I for street, and maybe even track. We choose to use it cause it burns so clean, the motor likes it especially when it is hot, it is really nice to read the plugs after a session on the track when tuning the SUs, and if you spill any it evaporates clean no stain, no mess and not smelly. Actually it's oder is easier to live with... brings on flash backs of a hot lap!

Arne, I would be proud if I were you! For getting your son through Mudd college cause around here many people would love to have had the experience. Cindy wanted to attend in her college days, but couldn't put her father through it!

I've seen several nice areas in the Inland Empire.

I grew up in Upland, married in Cucamonga, 1st home in Ontario, 2nd and LAST home in Chino. So I think you know the area well then. Inland Empire is still growing like crazy and farther East too. The housing & development helps keep my work busy building electrical control systems for well pump stations for all the thirsty people in the new areas. Actually I avoid the city areas and it's head aches as much as possible. Just 3 places to be Home, Work (Colton) and the tracks, sometimes at San Clemente beach to escape this whole mess!
