My third 240Z

Will, the wheels you show in your post (center picture) and in my avitar were actually optional for the S30 from the beginning. You see them more often on the later 260Z and the 280Z but they were a option on the 240Z. I lke them because you don't often see them but only being 5.5" wide might be a drawback to some people. Not sure I like the paint treatment on those however.

Yep, I agree. To me, the only thing for an early Z is the aluminum slots like the dealers put on them.

Thank you Carl.

My car came with the wheels pictured in my avatar. The Keystones have been on it since it was new.

Stephen, I knew they were an option, but I thought it was later in the S30 timeline-I just have not been interested enough, or I have been to damn lazy to check my parts catalog. I like the wheels, they may make it onto my roadster for that very reason, but the ornage paint will be replaced by black or if I paint the car Dark Blue, maybe with dark blue. The ARE mesh I think are too wide(14x7) for the roadster without some modding, but they would look good on the car if I keep it red.

Those wouldn't be too bad a looking wheel if they had a really nice polish to them and if that inner flange could be removed without affecting the strenght of the wheel. BTW, I'm not wild about the paint either.

Hey, I'm going to chime in here and ask a question:

Why do sunroofs neccessitate such a negative response from this crowd? Do they look ugly on S30's or are they just "unoriginal."

... I tell ya, from a functional standpoint... I would love it if my Z had a sunroof. My dad's little escort coupe ... thing... has one, and I love it.

To me, the biggest problem is they generally do not follow the compound curvature of the roof, but distort it-meaning they scream alteration from almost any level view! Add to that the propensity to leak that the non fitting ones have from forcing the sheet metal to another shape, and you have now added something that usually makes the car rust faster!

About fifteen years ago I had thought about adding a power sun roof that actually used the cutout as the cover so that the roof line was not altered at all, and the sun roof would only be noticed from outside when looking down to the roof, but in making my measurements from a couple of perspective donor cars, I would have to have taken out a couple of vertibra to keep from bumping my head on the installed assembly-I still think it is a great idea, but only for our shorter members...

Well, I suppose there are numerous reasons. First is the non-original issue, and that it is so difficult to "un-install" a sunroof. Some of them are pretty obtrusive, both in looks and in headroom. Then there's the issue of possible leaks.

On the other hand, they were a relatively popular add-on back in the day, both by owners and some dealers. Nice ones that are well installed don't seriously impact the headroom. And they do really help with extra fresh air in the car, which can be a big plus on a car without AC.

But even the really good ones do hurt the re-sale value.
