Posted October 1, 200618 yr comment_184291 I have just purchased a 1971 240Z! I am so excited about the opportunity to get it up and running. I am already addicted to this website and I haven't even gotten the car home. I have attached a couple pics of the car in the condition it is in. As you can see this is going to take a lot of work. The car has been parked for 10-12 years, the owner had parked it a neighbors house and it has been totally forgotten. The neighbor and the PO want it gone, so I am going to load it up and see if I can perform a miracle. This is my first project and I have very little knowledge of what I am getting myself into, but I look forward to learning and experiencing everything that will come with it. I am in Nashville, TN and if there is anyone on here local that can give me any advice on local shops or would like to lend a hand please let me know. The "Awakening the Beast" is a great post and looks to be one of the best threads for getting started. If anyone knows of any other threads with this type of beginner info let me know. I have purchased the Haynes Manual and the highly regarded Restoring the Z from Amazon.I haven't had a chance to go through this car very well looking for rust or other problems but I plan on posting updates and pics as soon as I get the car home. Thanks in advance for all the great info on this site. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21760-music-city-miracle/ Share on other sites
October 1, 200618 yr Author comment_184292 I need to verify it, but I beleive the engine is from an 83 280ZX and it has a 5 speed transmission form the same year as well. I hope this isn't a bad thing. I am not doing this to completely restore, but to drive and enjoy. October 1, 200618 yr comment_184295 Congrats on the purchase, these cars are addicting. Seems you've got the right manuals to guide you through too. Use the search engine for specific topics/questions, I do all the time and have been able to get through spots where I was stuck. If the car hasn't been started for a long time, use the search engine for advice on how to do this properly. I'll bet you can't wait to get her home, give her a bath and get started.Have fun and good luck with your car! October 1, 200618 yr comment_184302 Wow, nice find! From where I'm sitting, she almost looks like all she needs is a good wash 'n' wax, plus a bit of TLC under the hood and she's good to go!
