I am looking at these too.

For a while Konig was running a special if you were a member of NASA. You could get 15" rims, any color, for $55 each, and you could get 17" rims, any color, for $75 each.

That's where I got my set....not sure if that deal is still running or not, though.

Cool. NASA? What did you do about the center caps?

They're currently not mounted. I'm going to try tapping in the dust caps this week, I'll let everyone know if it works.

The fitment on the front cap is close but just not quite close enough....

I can get you the info on the NASA deal if you wanted to call Konig and inquire. I have the sales manager's name somewhere and his phone number. Member ship in NASA is forty bucks, so you have to add that into the cost of the deal.....

Please get me the info on NASA. Sounds like it is well worth the $40 to get that deal.

I am looking at getting a set of 15 x 7 Silver Panasports for my son's '78 280Z. If I do this I'll be selling the OEM Factory Alloy 14 X 6 wheels & tires. I bought these off ebay and put a new set of 195/70HR-14 Sumitomo HTR 200's on them 02/05/2004. Two of the rims are slightly bent but balance out OK. I have driven on them and they drive well. They could be easily refinished to like new condition but I am thinking I'd rather put new Panas on the car. Just wondering what the value of the wheels/tires would be and if anyone is looking for a set of these rims. Asking $375 plus shipping. PM or email me if you are interested.

Here is a pic of one of the rims & tires before we painted the car.

After paint.

I have been informed these wheels in good condition bring from $400-$600 with the center caps bringing $100-$150 per set. Asking $550 plus shipping. PM or email me if you are interested.

I noticed that you also posted this 'feeler' on Zhome. The wheel themselves are somewhat hard to come by, and it took me nearly six months to find a replacement for one of mine that had curb rash but I'm not sure that the caps for this wheel are worth $100-$150 a set. I bought some a year ago or so for $21 ea. througn Nissanparts.cc. I would imagine that they are still available unless someone bought them all up since then. But that's sitll a good price for the overall package.

Steve this is what I got from Eric at Z Parts.

Saw your Nissan OEM wheels for sale post on IZCC and thought I better give you a friendly heads up about those rare OEM wheels being worth at least $400.-$600. per set (non bent, without original OEM caps or

tires) Being polished, their worth may be much greater to the right buyer. Difficult to be certain about the later, however. Currently, I have a set of the same wheels for sale on my site that the curious can inspect the OEM detail of close up at http://www.zparts.com/ads/wheels/wheels_fs.html

If caps are in very good to excellent condition they are easily worth $100. - 150. per set used by themselves to collectors. I sold a new set of 4 of those caps 2 years ago for $200.00 & the buyer thought that was a bargain after looking for 3 years for those unique, "square" looking, OEM caps which are now NLA from Nissan.

Although Nissan fiche shows these wheels as being originally available on a 4/73 model (240Z?), they were not available, or at least sold, in the US, to my knowledge, until the Black Pearl model was released in the US in 1978? In Europe they seem to have been relatively common on models I have seen photos of there, usually on European 260Z models, which sold on up through 1979, I believe?

Perhaps someone on the list more knowledgeable, can correct my semi accurate dates, models and guesstimates.

If you are a close drive to a major airport and a buyer appears which is also near such, some of my wheel/tire combo seller contacts tell me that you can ship a set of 4 wheels with mounted tires between airports via "Forward Air" air carrier or similar sounding company, for an affordable amount ($80.-$100?) whereas through most other freight carriers such as UPS, it'll cost a buyer an unsettling amount of money. 4 wheels without tires, 2 per box will run somewhere in the $30-$45. range to most areas of the US, via FedEx.

Not trying to sound skeptical, but Rod of Rod's Datsun Parts had one cap for sale at the last Datsun swap meet in Gardena at the Nissan HQ for $100! One cap! These guys are in the business of selling Datsun parts. And those wheels did show up in the US before 1978. I distinctly remember seeing them on a 74 260Z in the showroom at Pomona Valley Datsun.

Stephen,

You are spot on. I was just remembering an old Road and Track article from 1976 where the 280Z was compared to a Porsche 924 and an Alfa GTV (the V6 hadn't been released yet sop this was a 4 cyl.). In that road test the 280Z is pictured with those alloy wheels!

In addition my HLS30-366531 12/76 production shows on its original invoice the 'alloy wheels' for an additional $350 when purchased in 02/77 in Milton, Florida.

I agree that your price is good for the entire package. Wheels, tires, and caps. But the price of the caps is being grossly overestimated. I just spoke to Rex at nissanparts.cc and he says that they are still available @$21.51 ea.
