Posted October 4, 200618 yr comment_184702 Hey any Konig Rewind owners - I know that the Konig caps don't fit on the front of the 240Zs, but I'd like to hear about what any of you are doing about it. I figure the options are to go capless, use spacers, use 280Z hubs and rotors, or something different?? Please share your solution, with pictures if appropriate. Also, if you are running the 14" Rewinds, what size tires are you using, and what suspension do you have? Any clearance issues? October 4, 200618 yr comment_184732 Hey, I have the 14" konig rewinds. I am using 245/60/14 tires. The only rubbing I have is on the rear fender lips. I am also lowered 1 1/2". I didn't know that the caps did not fit. I will have to check on mine. October 4, 200618 yr comment_184740 I have a set of the 15" Konig Rewinds on my car, and the caps do not fit over the front hubs. It's close, but no cigar....I have heard that some percussive persuasion (tapping in the dust caps with a hammer) does the trick. My dust caps are all mashed up anyway, so I will likely try this in the next few days. I'll let you know if the caps do indeed fit afterwards. October 5, 200618 yr comment_184748 I'm using the supplied caps and spacers, but thats because I have 280 front hubs with a one-off S12W brake conversion that won't clear the wheels anyway. October 5, 200618 yr Author comment_184751 Will the Konig caps fit on 280Z hubs (with stock brakes) w/o spacers? I'd understood that they will. October 5, 200618 yr comment_184760 i got the caps on mine. Placed them on the wheels then put the wheels on. I also banged the grease caps with a rubber mallet. The caps hold. I have an early 260z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21809-konig-owners-240z-cap-options/#findComment-184760 Share on other sites
October 5, 200618 yr comment_184761 I have a set of 15" Rewinds on my 280z. When I brought it to the tire shop the owner suggested that instead of crushing the front grease caps that I should remove them. He said that he did that to his car as well. I took his advice and so far (1 1/2 years later) everthing is fine. I check it periodically and the grease looks about right. The tire shop owner said that the Konig caps basically act like the original grease caps. I have an early 260zIt appears that the 260Z has the same front hub as the 280Z, not the 240Z. So I'm not surprized to hear that they fit your 260Z. October 5, 200618 yr Author comment_184773 OK, time for me to get serious. Can one of you Konig owners do me favor? Please measure the center hole for me, as accurately as possible. Also a picture of the Konig cap that shows the "teeth" would be helpful as well.
