Poor mans cold air intake

I had to work mine for a long time before I could get it on. I haven't removed it since. I just worked the rubber with my hands and just did my best to try and strech it.

ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

Is it just me, or does this sound a little vulgar?

Getting the rubber connector on was easy.

I put my fingers through on the inside if the curve, then hooked it on the tube and stretched the rubber on. Like stretching socks. No lube used at all, except for when I wanted to turn the rubber to a different position.

First of all, I wouldn't use a 3" tube. Remember that's the inner diameter. The outer diameter is even larger. I used a 2.5 inch aluminum tube which is just slightly smaller than 70mm in outer diameter. Aluminum doesn't stretch or shrink as easily as steel tubing. With the minimal amount I had to have my 2.5" tube sweged, it fits snug without having to stretch that nearly 30 year old rubber duct.

Steven,

I barely had to stretch my rubber duct over the intake tube. It is snug enough and the rubber 'sticky' enough that it stays on there fairly well by itself, but you still need a clamp for safety and mechanical & effeciency correctness.

BTW, I used a newer worm-screw clamp on the filter itself and the tube end of thte rubber duct, since that end is "new," and you can't see it well, but a wire (correct name?) clamp on the AFM connection (for period-correctness).
