Is it possible to change the back up lamp-switch on the transmission case, on an 280 ZXT from 83, without removing the case ? My Hayns manual is not referring to the last models with the newer transmission. It seems that the switch is somewhere on top of the case where you can't see it.

It should be possible. It's difficult to see if your car is on jackstand/ramps. I could see it when my car was on a lift.

I didn't look at the left side, because on early models it's on the right side. I'll try to locate it again, and then work on how to get a new one. Thanks again !

Actually, my 73 has a 5 speed, and the switch is on the right side. Since Reverse is down and to the right, I'm not sure why the switch would ever be on the left.

You are correct the T-5 has the backup switch on the left side and it is different from the standard 4/5 speed switch. Last month when I checked with MSA they couldn't get a new one.

Wasn't the T-5 also used in Mustangs? If so, could the switch be available from Ford or an aftermarket supplier for Mustang parts?
