Posted October 9, 200618 yr comment_185161 Some of you may remember I drove my Series I home some months ago. Very close inspection found a number of small problems that needed to be tended to and several major problems. Biggest problem was the PO had not replaced the emissions header that had a rotted out weld at the #1 exhaust port. I finally got off my %$& and ordered a new header a couple of months ago along with a complete exhaust system from MSA. Work has been getting in the way of working on the Z, but I managed to finally get the header on along with the exhaust. I should add that I removed the fuel tank as well and replaced all of the lines running too and from the vent can as well as everything else. I had a case of the "while I am at it" as well and went ahead and removed all of the emissions stuff from the intake as well as the air pump. Well, I fired her up today and BOY DOES SHE SOUND BETTER. I still had to play with the carbs a little and set the points correctly and check the timing. Got it all done and took her around the block, well around the neighborhood. I know I shouldn't have, but I opened her up a couple of times. Caught some rubber hitting second and man did it bring back memories! Now on to working on the suspension, fixing the rust, etc, etc, etc. It sure was nice to drive a Z again! Now I just need to drive it a little more often. October 9, 200618 yr comment_185241 Congrats on your mini run. I'm sure that will go a long way towards keeping you motivated. Take care of any structural rust problems as soon as possible and get her back out there for another run!
