Looks like the auction has ended and although it would appear that you will receive more than your asking price I still think you let it go for too low.... It is a beautiful car.... Hope whoever has bought it will continue on with what you started.....

Well the final price was $19,650. I am very happy with what i got. Quite frankly i didnt think it would go that high. I got an overwhelming response. People are emailing me after the auction offering me $20k. Go figure!

I dont think i have seen a 240 go for the that much in some time.

give yourself some credit.

most upright bipeds are very capable of recognizing quality. that is how the inlaws who have never driven a car worth more than their annual salary can say nice car. what we forget is the car they did not admire, even though more money was spent and or had a big wing on the back.

my point is, a well planned project with a consistant theme and care taken has value and the lack of it is how we "car guys" can occasionally say "wow, he spent alot of money on that one and it still looks wrong".

mmagnus, you not only built a car worthy of great admiration. you built a car wanted by one who chose your style over his own and who concievably has the resources to have built one himself.

Thanks guys. I love the car, but my interests have gone in a different direction. I am turning 40 this month, and i think mid-life crises is settling in.

At 42, my Mid Life Crissis has me trying to do what you have already done.

My second 72 S30 is still awaiting resurrection.ROFL

Congratulations on your sale and good luck in your new adventures!

Well after selling my Z, i went for a more "practical exotic" And what a car it is. I found a great deal on a 2004 Porsche C4S Cabriolet. This car is fantastic to drive. It handles like nothing i have ever driven and sounds like a million bucks.

I think i am going to enjoy being 40! See photos

Mark,

Am happy that you are happy BUT... I would take your Z over this P anytime.... anyone with money can have this and you will see yourself coming and going everywhere... Now ...your Z, well, that was unique! Don't see yourself coming and going in that.....

I am not comparing the Porsche and the Z. Quite honestly, there is no comparison. The point of the post is that after selling the Z, i needed something to get excited about again....and this is doing it!

The 240Z is a classic sports car and I will always love them, but my I was looking for something better. I had bought a 350Z roadster in 2004, thinking that would do it. It didnt. I sold it a year later with 4k miles on it.

The Porsche is an incredible machine. It has so much grip and traction and it winds up like a go cart. I hit the gas and its gone!

Finally, i just love the way this one looked. The combination of the black and "baseball glove" interior is beautiful.

I didnt mean to offend anyone. Just wanted to share my new toy.

Mark,

Mark,

PLEASE do not misunderstand me….. I am not, and neither is anyone else I am sure, offended by the fact that you purchased your new baby. Quite the contrary, I am very happy for you. Having owned two 911’s including a Turbo and currently owning a Z06 Vette I understand perfectly well the sensation you are experiencing. My point is simple, or so I thought, and that is what you had was a truly unique car and the route you were on in modifying it would have made it into a contemporary sports car able to run, stop and turn with the best of them. I drive my Z06 and, yes, it is nice. With 505 hp on tap I’ll hit 60 in about 3.8 seconds, turn on a dime and stop so quick it even scares me. But, I get out of the vette and say to myself, nice car.

Drive my Z and something happens to me…. I get goose bumps just listening to my carbs, no a/c, no cruise control, no Bose stereo, no electric this and that, just pure driving pleasure. Stop for gas and inevitably a crowd gathers. All kinds of questions and conversations develop not about how much it costs but the car itself. Stop at a number of traffic lights and someone is bound to role their window down and say, “Hey, you wanna sell it?” “ Had one in high-school should’ve never sold it…. “ Real Beauty, Congrats!” Stuff like this never, ever, happened in my Porsche- never in the Vette and it was one of the first C6 Z06 around here.

But I digress. The simple fact of the matter is that you are happy and nothing else matters and as I said, I am happy for you.
