October 22, 200618 yr Author comment_186592 I'm going to try a mount made from a rearview mirror mount. I can stick the metal bracket behind the rearview mirror, and mount the camera to the stalk somehow. The whole thing could be hidden behind the rearview mirror, and the USB wire runs along the sunvisor to the door pillar, then to the laptop. I'll probably need an extension, but USB is good to at least 15 feet ( or c. 5m) which is probably longer than I will need. the only problem is that when you go the JY, they aways want to know 'what car you have,' and I just want a rearview mirror with a pillips screw clamp. Another idea I had today was to mount the camera to the door pillar. Some kind of clamp with fingers on it? Also, too bad there's no software to do all this with my Palm PDA (no hard drive, minimal power consumption & fits in the centre console!) October 22, 200618 yr comment_186594 Why not just make a Z shaped sheet metal mount for the camera that fits one end under the three screws that hold the mirror, and the other end on the windshield side of the mirror? Then you lose nothing and gain a mount that isn't preventing the use of your mirror! Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21889-in-car-time-lapse-photography-options/?&page=3#findComment-186594 Share on other sites
October 22, 200618 yr Author comment_186595 That is an idea. I don't use the mirror any way. Maybe even take the clip off the bracket & screw that to a metal arm. October 22, 200618 yr comment_186598 You drive on OHIO and don't use the rearview Mirror? I can understand being afraid to look into it, but...Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/21889-in-car-time-lapse-photography-options/?&page=3#findComment-186598 Share on other sites

October 22, 200618 yr Author comment_186610 I'm not using the OEM mirror (broken.) I mounted a newer one.I have Gumball rally on my VCR right now. the line is, "And now, my friend, the first rule of Italian driving: What's behind me, is not important."About that Z-bracket: How about a bracket to hook in the back edge of the square hole, and a sliding part to hook into the front edge (or vice-versa)? A bolt to hold it. I could make that in an hour or two, but I only have .100 aluminum. It's better than cutting up the OEM mirror arm.
