I have a early 69-70 240z, I bought what appear to be a good bushinf kit for the shifter that had a little extra play in it. When I took it apart cleaned and inspected, found theirs no way theses parts could be right, My ? is did they come with a diffrent transmission in the very Early models or am I just stupid

The interface of the shift lever with the transmission is very different between the early type "A" transmissions and the later type "B". See the following artivle for more info:

I have seen both types of bushings for sale on ebay recently. You might try Courtesy Nissan to see if they have the right ones.
