Posted October 19, 200618 yr comment_186265 I have a '71 240 Z. There is a hose that connects on one end to the PCV valve, and on the other end it connects to a tube that comes out of the engine. On my car this tube has been cut short (I think to make room for the York a/c unit). What I want to know is if this tube is just threaded into the engine? Can it be "unscrewed" and replaced with a new part that has not been cut down? October 19, 200618 yr comment_186274 Jeff, My car also had this metal tube cut by the PO but fortunately for me it was still connected by a hose and clamp to the piece sticking out of the block. Its an emissions hose. Here's a picture of where the hose ends up. Its the one marked "Goodyear, 1/4, 6.4mm" Hope this helps. October 19, 200618 yr comment_186281 I believe that the small hose fitting on the pipe you're talking about is for a hose that comes from the Flow Guide Valve which Bruce has provided a picture for above.The Flow Guide Valve "guides" fresh air from the air cleaner into the fuel tank, "guides" tank vapors into the crankcase which serves as an expansion storage tank, and prevents backflow from the crankcase into the fuel tank. October 19, 200618 yr comment_186283 Bruce this little hose marked Goodyear is way too small to be adequate to act as a vent for the engine block. The main function of the metal larger port on the side of the block , is to allow the engine to breathe and to help keeping the engine from forming sludge. It is supposed to be connected to a larger hose like a 5/8'' hose and connected to a PCV valve and to the intake manifold . The little hose you are talking about and showing is part of the fuel tank fresh air systime. October 19, 200618 yr comment_186308 Looks like it was called "Connector - pipe" and had a factory part number of 11830-E3000, possibly superseded by 11830-E4600. No idea if they are still available new. (Number 4 in the attached picture.) It's called a "Connector Pipe", PN 11830-E3000 or 11830-E4600 if I'm reading the fiche correctly. Gary, my pipe is two into one. There's a nipple for the 1/4" hose connection to the Flow Guide Valve. You're right about the size being bigger, I think the pipe is probably closer to 1" ID.
