October 23, 200618 yr comment_186799 I think this is the 3rd winter I've spent on this site, and every year its the same. All of us in the snow belt share our woes about the winter hibernation, and everyone in the glorious south pipes in about how sunny it is, and what a beautiful weekend of driving their Z's they had. Once again, I say you guys are lucky and I hope all of you take advantage of the warm winter and get lots of time in your Z. October 23, 200618 yr comment_186802 Really, the biggest problem is that they use salt on the roads to melt snow and ice. As we all know, salt is a real Z killer. That's why you hardly ever see a 240Z in Chicago. And if you do, it probably came from somewhere else like CA, or NM. It seems like you WA guys have a lot of them up there too. I haven't seen a 240Z in a junk yard here since 1987.That's one thing that never got started here in Oregon or Washington - SALT! Even up in the Cascade mountain passes, no salt. Which is why - even though it rains here a whole lot during the winters - you still see old cars like our early Zs on the roads here. But that goes the other way as well. Because easily repairable Zs are readily available here, a whole lot of cars that would be prime restoration candidates in other parts of the country are simply crushed out here, being considered too rusty to be worth messing with. Sad, but true. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22022-started-putting-my-z-away-this-weekend/?&page=2#findComment-186802 Share on other sites

October 23, 200618 yr comment_186820 Same here fellas. Sorry to rub it in but now I can finally start driving the Z after hiding it in the shade all summer in Phoenix. The next 8 months will be perfect driving weather! No worries, rub it in all you want now. When those 4 months that you mention aren't perfect, we'll be rubbing it in on you guys in the south when the temps go above 100° and more. After all, we may get a lot of rain, and even some snow here and there, but for us in summer 95 degrees IS a major heat wave. All kidding aside, the seasons are the reason that you need to protect your car for those times when you simply cannot drive it for whatever your region's difficulties are. Winterize...I feel for you brothers.I don't know if you attend the So Cal Datsun gatherings, but if so, look me up and I'll take a look at your 73 a/c. I'm generally the only guy you'll see in an 810 Coupe (Brown) or a 64 L320 (Bright red). I only occaisionally bring the Z. Yeah it's been a while , and I don't see low temps here , but it might help getting a few good tips ! :classic: Since mine is a rolling shell, I plan to store parts inside the car, and boxes and tools on the roof. I'll probably put a ladder and some tarps inside the engine bay. Thats my plan to store it this winter . But seriously...here is a good starter for winter storage: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19117&highlight=store+winter Zak Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22022-started-putting-my-z-away-this-weekend/?&page=2#findComment-186845 Share on other sites

I only occaisionally bring the Z.I do attend some events with the Z club of San Diego and some on my own like West Coast Nationals at MSA and the Queen Mary event. My A/C does not blow very cold at all. I just thought it was because it is that it is an old system. I would appreciate it being looked at. I am going to go the event at Doheny(spell) State Beach. I would love to talk to you about the L320 as well...my friend and I are working on Victor's old L320. I am just glad not to have to worry about winterizing, the reason I joined the Navy many years ago was to get away from the snow in Pennsylvania, I love Sunny SoCal. October 23, 200618 yr comment_186878 It's about that time here also. This weekend I'll put the bags tied with rubberbands around the exhaust and intake to keep the mice out while they look for winter housing. Hopfully I'll get a couple of rides in before the full winterization takes place.
