Color electrical diagram on ebay

I just received a wiring diagram I had purchased on ebay. I am sure everyone has seen them for sale. Full color, laminated, etc. The one I purchased was advertised for the 69-70 240z and I am not sure how much it differs from a 71-73. I ran to the garage to compare with my wiring harness lying in the cardboard box and it seems pretty spot on (green and white, blue with red etc.). I haven't done a complete head to head comparison but think it was a good buy. It gets a little busy with everything on 1 page but the color is really nice. It is a lot easier to follow than the black and white ones I have looked at before. It even has the wiring for foglights (see earlier thread), although it is labelled as red/green but mine is actually red/blue. Hope this helps people who have been curious. I am very pleased with the purchase. Carl

Is it actually a "wiring diagram" or a "wiring schematic" ? A wiring diagram would show where the individual wires are routed in the car - a schematic shows electrical logic (not physical position)

Could you provide a peek of the one you purchased for us?

thanks,

Carl B.

I guess it would be more a schematic? The wires are roughly in anatomic position (ie, headlights are to the left, tail lights to the right, dash in the center), but not exactly. Some of the smaller switches are placed to the top and bottom, out of the way. I can scan in some of it to give a better picture of it. I will try to post it later today. Carl

Hi Carl:

Your description is enough to tell me that its the schematic... no need to do the scan. I was hoping that someone had developed a color coded wiring diagram - that would show us non Electrical Types what wires run through what wiring harnesses and to what connectors they terminate.... the physical layout we deal with in the real world.

thanks for the response

I got hold of a set of the dealer wiring wall charts for a 75 280Z on eBay not too long ago. Has about 3-4 color wall charts (Read really big) that was still in the tube and sealed. (Paid somewhere around $40.00) Kind of thinking about have them copied at Kinko's or something like that, but not really sure if there were that many folks with 75 280Z cars out there in Z land....

Did he have anything for a 78?

How about the real thing? When I bought out a dealership 10 yrs. ago, I found these two items in their attic along with several service bulletins.

The first is the largest and is a 3 page wall chart for the 77 280Z model. They're each about 28.5" x 40", with the exception of the final 3rd. chart.

The other wall chart is for the 78 S30 & 810 models EFI system only. It's about a third of the size of the other charts.

They would be great for referrence, unfortunately they have some discoloration and smell like rat wizz!

Yeah, thats what it looks like. For the 240z it is all on one 11 x 17 page but that is exactly what it looks like. I would imagine that the person I purchased it from has copied them vs. selling an original like those. Carl

I have the color schematic found on here for the 77. The one thats put into a PDF file. I had it blown up on a map making machine at work and got 3 copies all in color. Its about 4 ft x 2 ft. Gave one to Will for all his help with the 76. I have used it quite a few times. I love how its easy to read.
