Mitch, Welcome aboard! Regardinging your questions, Become familiar with the search function. The amount of Z information in our archives is overwhelming.....just about anything you what to know about the early Z's. Also, it is beneficial to be more detailed on your personal profile, as then folks will know where you are located, your age, etc., etc. Believe me, this will help out when you need help! Again, welcome and enjoy!!!!

thanks for the welcome, but i really hate the search, i never find what im looking for. all i ever find is countless pages of nothing but people arguing or things that are not what im looking for. I'll update my profile but i dont really see how that should change peoples answers to me.

Hi Mitch and welcome,

To quickly answer. Look at the I.D. plate inside the drivers door jamb. Or the gross weight might be on a sticker under the hood. Dimensions - no clue, maybe a service manual? and the 240,260,280 are very similar but not identical. Some parts will swap and some will not. If you get a parts catalog either from MSA or Black Dragon auto you will be able to compare parts. In the catalog you will see which part fits what year.

I know what you mean by the search but it really does help. Unfortunately you do have to sift through some of the mumbo jumbo but the answer is there. Especially if it's a subject that has been dicussed several times. Lots of members don't like to beat a dead horse.

Once again Welcome. I think we have two other members from Hawaii.

thanks, Yeah i was just looking into which z has the lightest chassis, i have plans to put a sr20 into this car. but i got a deal on a 280z for 400 buck because the guy is leaving hawaii and the motor doesn run too good. but the body is in very nice condition.

I do use the search first before i ask question. Ill usually ask after i get frustrated with it. I found some info of people putting in sr20's in to their z's and im suprised to find that there are a lot of people who are offended by this. i guess they feel its a down grade to the z car.

Hey Mitch, you will find that most members here at Classiczcars are "purists" and don't take too well to extreme modifications. We like the keep the classic in z cars. If you would like to talk to guys that like to put anything and everything into a z car you should check out Hybridz.org

And the lightest chassis came in the 1970 model year.

hey, thanks for the info. I just got a 77 280z for 400 bucks and a free 75 280 2+2. the one im going to build is the 77. and the 2+2 just had those clear headlight covers and newer tires. if anyone wants any parts of the 2+2 i can take it off, its got a 280zx motor in it. dont know if its any different though.
