Posted November 4, 200618 yr comment_188283 Hello AllFor correctness sake, I would like to ask what is the correct way to route the two choke cables through the firewall and what is the subsquent correct way to orientate the associated choke cable grommet?Do the choke cables route through the firewall one on top of the other or side by side?I would also like to ask what is the difference between the 'early' and the 'late' style of choke cable grommet. Wicks book lists that he uses a 'late' style grommet which he comments as not being correct for his 1970 model year car.I have my suspicions but would like some confirmation. Thanks for any replies/pics.Joseph Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22172-choke-cable-routing-through-firewall-grommet-orientation/ Share on other sites
November 7, 200618 yr comment_188721 I don't know the difference between early and late grommets, and don't know which style mine might be. Cables are side-by-side. Grommet faces upwards. As shown in the attached picture, the long cable is closest to the engine. Hope this helps! November 7, 200618 yr comment_188724 Mine is exactly the same as Arne's. MSA carries the grommet. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22172-choke-cable-routing-through-firewall-grommet-orientation/#findComment-188724 Share on other sites
November 12, 200618 yr comment_189271 I believe I now know the difference between early and late grommets. The late grommet (the one you always see offered these days) has a round protrusion into the engine compartment. The early grommet has two smaller protrusions. In the attached pictures, the early is shown installed in the (red) firewall, and the late is shown sitting on a table.
