Posted November 6, 200618 yr comment_188478 Hello everyone. I have just luckily acquired a 260Z. I have never owned a Z car before only Honda's and 1 Nissan hardbody. I bought this car with the intentions of being my project car/daily driver/chick magnet:p . I like it's design styling and most important smog exempt status here in California. I live in Bakersfield and I was wondering if there are other 240Z/260Z/280Z/ owners in town that could help guide me in the right direction toward reaching my goal with this project? Other outside help would be greatly appreciated.:classic: Thank You. November 6, 200618 yr comment_188490 Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. Is the car a driver or something that needs to be brought back to life? November 7, 200618 yr Author comment_188657 It definitely needs to be brought back to life. I'll try to get pictures this coming weekend so everyone can see the work this baby needs. The body is straight, a bit of rust here and there & the engine was rebuilt but the car was stored for over a year. Things I need to do:Drop the tank & empty gasReplace brake boosterChange oilNew batteryTune-up including the two carbs filtersNew valve stem on one tire-temporary fix till I get rims.Maybe some clutch workAnd that is what the owner said it needed to make it run. Who knows what else I might find out along the way to get it running. Thats what makes it frustrating but fun at the same time. November 14, 200618 yr comment_189534 That's some pretty scary looking rust on the rocker panel there if that's what it looks like. My guess is that it's not the only place. Get some shots of the frame rails where they meet the TC rod box from the side and underneath, the battery tray area, and yank the floor mats and tar on the floors to find more. Check deck area under the hatch as well. If these areas are bad, you're gonna need some welding skills or the money to get it fixed. The rocker panel and TC box areas can be costly to replace and present the biggest threat as far as safety goes. November 21, 200618 yr Author comment_190123 I have updated my Gallery with my worst Rust areas that I have found.:surprised But yeah that part on the bottom rocker panel from the outside is not rust. It's just fallen red paint to reveal the car's original silver paint. Which is my color of choice for this car.
