Ramses Posted November 8, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2006 Hey,I am looking for the thing that holds the sunvisors in place. During my restore, I lost mine, I guess. I can not find what it looks like and I do not have a good sence as to what to look for. I have tried ebay, motorsport and my local junk yards. Please help
dzrt1st Posted November 8, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2006 Here is the parts list page showing the "holder-sunvisor" as part number 96409-E8700.This is assuming your car is a 73 or earlier. nissanparts.cc shows it is still available for less than $5.ToddPg111-3.pdf
sblake01 Posted November 8, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 8, 2006 Actually, it's the same part number through 78. I've got a spare one somewhere. I'll have to look through my stuff and see if I can find it.

EScanlon Posted November 10, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 10, 2006 What is your inside Rear View Mirror mounted to?E
Ramses Posted November 11, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted November 11, 2006 The rear view is mounted directly to the metal on the roof of the car. I am using the 3 screws provided. They are a bit long and the it is a bit loose.
EScanlon Posted November 11, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 11, 2006 The reason I ask, is that the base of the mirror is the same base that accepts the ends on the sun-visors. The mirror itself snaps into the hole for it's clip. This is the safety break-away feature.I'll see if I can find a pic.E

The three screws go into the metal piece which actually holds the plastic piece in place. It's possible that the plastic part is broken off and missing but the metal is still there. It's possible that the plastic part is broken off and missing but the metal is still there. This differs from what I have in the 3 - 71, 72 and 73 Z's I have, that's why I'm asking. I don't have that plastic piece you mention. Is this a latter type than the early Z's?The Z's I have access to show that the base is what holds the sun-visor end rod, and it has the square hole for the mirror clip to snap into. No plastic piece. Since the mirror can't be affixed to the roof without the base, and the base has the sun-visor holds, I was wondering why he needed separate pieces.E
MikeW Posted November 11, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 11, 2006 I don't have that plastic piece you mention. Is this a latter type than the early Z's? I wish I could answer that but it appears that once again I'm a victim of not knowing of production changes to items like this. I'm really only familiar with what's on my 9/71 model. I had no idea that this ever changed. I've attached a picture I just took of mine that clearly shows the separate pieces. As you can see my plastic piece was actually cracked and broken and I used a plastic glue to repair it. I did just attempt to install just the metal piece without the plastic but in that situation the square hole is not deep enough to accept the mirror; the clip on the mirror hits the vinyl.
