72 Water temperature sending unit

I changed the connector that was loose because sometimes my gauge was working, sometimes not. I was twisting the wire and was coming back for a day or so and after nothing.

My feeling it is a bad contact again because it doesn't work anymore.

Could it be possible that the temperature sending unit itself could be the problem?
