Wheel spacers/Adapters

XYZ

Recommended Posts

I have a question for the group regarding wheels spacers and adapters. Does anyone have experience with this type of modification? This web site would be the supplier of the adapter and has information about strenths and materials.

I'm seriously considering this option as I cannot find more than a handful of wheels that will fit an early model Z that look decent or don't cost tons of cash.

My understanding (as explained at the above web site) is the bolt pattern remains a 4 lug pattern and the adapter is rotated 45 degrees off of the existing lugs. The spacing of the lugs can change to whatever you like and the offset becomes positive, 40mm. Instead of shopping for truck wheels and having a selection of maybe a dozen wheels the market is much larger. I know porsche uses a spacer on their cars and they seem to stand up to the performance demands so I'm thinking maybe this is the way to go. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Spacer / Adapters made specifically for early Z's can be found here...

http://www.modern-motorsports.com/products/wheel%20adaptor%20zto%20h.htm

These wheel adaptors bolt onto your existing Z wheel studs, are secured with lugnuts and then a new set of wheel studs already pressed into the adaptors in the 4x100 (ie. Honda) bolt pattern is used to fit up your new wheels. The centerbore is matched to your Z hubs (see pic below) to reinforce ideal alignment. Thickness is correct to allow one to choose from the almost unlimited choices available in the Honda bolt pattern (4x100, or 4x4") and offset (generally +36 to +40mm). ANY OTHER size can be custom ordered for any offset or bolt pattern (no 4 lug to 5lug conversions available in a spacer alone, you must stay with same number of studs in any bolt pattern changes)

The guy who runs/owns Modern Motorspors frequents the HybridZ Forum,

and I 'm sure he or the any of the others that have purchased the adapters

will answer any questions you have.

Note: these adapters are made from 6061 AL as well.
