November 19, 200618 yr comment_189927 The only newer Skyline legal to be imported is the 1996 R33 GT-R only. This is the one that had factory dual airbags. The problem is that no one has been able to make a working OBD-II compatible computer for the car. So it's unlikely any will be brought in legally any time soon. Not to mention the fact that legal R33's are bringing about $50k here. That is a hard sell for a 10 year old used car when the new GT-R will be here shortly and will sell for $70k, come with a factory warranty, and it will be brand new. Don't get me wrong, the R33 is an awsome car, but might not really be the best way to drop that kind of money here.Brian Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22322-ebay-usa-1971-kgc10-skyline-gt-r-lookalike/?&page=2#findComment-189927 Share on other sites

NHTSA has determined that the R33 Model Nissan GTS and GTR ("Skyline") passenger cars manufactured between January 1, 1996 and June 30, 1998 are eligible for importation and has assigned vehicle eligibility number VCP-32 to those vehicles." November 20, 200618 yr comment_190005 why do they need OBD-II compatibility? My guess (and that's all it is) is that without OBD compatibility, emission testing would be impossible for those states that have it. November 20, 200618 yr comment_190020 ooh ok... there is some local development here in Australia in reading the Data off the skyline computers, plugs int othe OBD port, and reports a whole bunch of stuff, either to a LCD display, or laptop... so i wouldn't say that is isn't available (it certainly is to nissan ) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22322-ebay-usa-1971-kgc10-skyline-gt-r-lookalike/?&page=2#findComment-190020 Share on other sites
